i like how joe fights but i can't stand how he acts and talks about ali.

just saw facing ali the other day and my blood started boiling again about how frazier and holmes talks about ali.

had to get that off my chest.

well, Joe has mellowed a lot in regard to Ali AND in that video he actually started really tearing up when talking about Ali and how he hoped Ali lives out his life in good health..also there are no 2 guys on the planet more IN THE SHADOW OF MUHAMMAD ALI than Joe and Larry, I always got the impression that deep seeded jealousy plays a part in their words...

i remember when joe was on a radio show and he said something about ali having parkinson's is proof he won their fights.

i can understand larry being bitter since ali overshadowed him even though ali wasn't even fighting anymore but joe shouldn't be bitter.

no offense to joe but his fights with ali is why he is remembered.

i mean how many kids know ellis or bonavena or chuvalo or quarry?

they remember frazier because of ali.

very true...Ali is the one who made Joe memorable...although you have to really give Smoke credit for what he did against Ali in 1971...to me that was one of the most impressive, most determined showings ever...Joe immortalized himself that night...

i think joe has a lot better reason to be bitter than holmes. holmes never got called an uncle tom by a man he financially supported. i don't know how much money joe gave ali, but the fact that he did support him at all and then had to suffer the ridicule from ali and ali's fans says a lot. this wasn't just one joke and then all business before the fight. every minute for months before each ali-frazier fight joes name was dragged through the mud. that can make a man ready to kill someone. and by the way, we all know boxing used to get 10 times the press it does today, which is 10x the number of people hearing the hateful things ali had to say about frazier. ali was a once in a lifetime fighter and most of the time a once in a lifetime character, but he had a mean streak a mile long and it surfaced at the worst of times.

Larry Holmes has stated that the times he spent with Ali were among the greatest in his life.

Hardly the words of a bitter man.

Crocodile tears comes to mind when I viewed that clip.frazier will do anything and say anything for money these days.Do you recall all the harsh words he had for his old rival in his book? Apparently that bitterness wasn't so strong that it prevented frazier from having himself pictured arm in arm alongside the man he apparently hated at some basketball game.

For the record...he didnt support Ali financially...Ali and Joe were on a trip from Philly to NY in a car together, Ali taped the conversation because he was working on a book...and at the end of the trip Joe asked him if he was OK, did he need anything, Ali borrowed somemoney..I'll have to look in the book later to see the exact dollar amount..b ut it wasnt enough to "support" him, it wasnt like that...
