Hopkins has the most delusional fans. He is not going 12 with Haye.

Hopkins great condition would be ruined by adding 20 pounds especially at his age. He would be too slow for Haye and get hurt badly, despite his skills at 175.

It's not like Haye is a prime Mike Tyson.

Hopkins has arguably the best defense in the game. He's crafty. he knows how to not get hit flush. I mean seriously, when does hopkins ever get hit hard? You'd have to go back 10 years or so.

Hopkins would smother haye and use lateral movement to stay away from haye's big punches. Remember, hopkins doesn't allow his opponents to set up their shots and he certainly doesn't allow them to load up on their shots either.

It's very, very hard to hit hopkins flush, let alone knock him out. Even at this old age.

****, James Toney would go the distance against Haye even at this stage. Why? For the same reasons, Toney has great defense.
That bum he fought in his last fight was hitting him flush quite a bit.

James Toney would go the distance against Haye because he has an AMAZING chin. And Byrd and Toney have extremely similar defenses, theirs actually works against heavyweights. Hopkins defense won't cut it. And Hopkins doesnt have as good of a chin as Toney.

Hopkins + 20 pounds would have slower footspeed, slower handspeed, slower reflex, less stamina. He is a skinny dude by nature and he's 40+ years old. At heavyweight Haye is gonna have every single natural advantage you could have.

And your Chambers Dimentriko example is not relevant at all. No one is gonna beat Bernard with muscle alone. Dimentriko has bad footwork, bad hand speed and isn't as powerful as Haye. When we see Chambers vs Wlad you'll see how ineffective his defense is against a real heavyweight.

Dimentriko could lose to Bernard but Haye would KO him.

Actually your Tyson reference is kind of funny because that's exactly the type of fighter Hopkins would have a field day with. On the other hand quick athletic boxers (jones, taylor, zaggie) are the ones that he does poorly against.

                which was like in 94.

But he's taken hard flush shots after that too, against Echols for sure he did and wasn't even phased.

How can you say hopkins doesn't have as good of a chin as toney? When has hopkins ever been hurt???

Age is the big question here, I admit that. But I'm going by what he's show in his past fights.

what? tyson was quicker than haye man, by far.

And I'm not arguing that hopkins will beat haye, I'm arguing that he could go the distance against him. I understand the challenges haye's size and skills pose to hopkins, but that doesn't make me automatically assume that haye would stop him easily like everyone is saying.

When Hopkins takes shots from CWs and HWs then we can compare chins.
