shane beat the #1 ww in margarito thats why he should be #1, pacquiao has only had 1 legitimate fight at ww and that was against oscar because the cotto fight was at a catchweightComment

So who are the options? Check everyone's last few fights at Welterwight and make an opinion on it that way maybe?
Pacquiao - fought twice there in the space of a year and two months. Pros are he dominated both De La Hoya and Cotto, but cons are he fought Cotto at catch weight and many believe De La Hoya was weight drained.
Mayweather - Fought Baldomir 3 and a half years ago, Hatton 2 years ago and Marquez 6 months ago. Pros are he dominated all 3. Cons are the competition isn't great, Marquez was blown up and Hatton didn't look very good at WW (even against Collazo looked poor).
Cotto - Fought Margarito, Jennings, Clottey, Pacquiao in the space of 2 years. Pro's are he's faced a high level of competition in a short time. Cons are he got dominated by Margarito (plaster or no plaster, its still a loss) and Pacquiao looked comfortable too.
Mosley - Fought Collazo, Cotto and Margarito in the space of 3 years. Pros are he dominated Collazo, finished strong and kept it close against Cotto and stomped Margarito in devastating fashion. Cons are he lost to Cotto.
So sum it up...all 4 top welterweights were madly inactive, only Cotto was active and look what happened to him. You weight it all up and Mosley still deserves to be number 1. Especially since he chased a fight with both Money and Pacman and they both declined and didn't want nothing to do with Mosley until May was without a dance partner. Add to that the fact he was meant to fight Clottey in December and HBO cancelled it, tried all summer to fight Pac or May and had a Berto fight cancelled...then least you can say he's tried...unlike May who said "I'm retired" and Pac who wouldn't fight him and then has only had 2 fights at welterweight.
I think this sums it up, Mosley is #1Comment
