It upsets me alot because the RJ-Hopkins rematch after the Tito fight was IMO the biggest fight in history not to happened. RJ at that time was still one of the best fighters ever and I think Hopkins at that time wouldve given any MW in history hell, including Hagler. I mean it just didnt get any better than that rematch. I actually thought up until that point that Hopkins gave RJ a harder fight than anyone in his career so I know it wouldve been a beast fight now with Hopkins at his peak & RJ fighting at a super high level.

Then you look back in hindsight and its even worst that the fight never came off because we saw an even older RJ come down to SMW and still look good against Tito while we saw Bernard jump straight from MW to LHW and look like a flat beast so you know that he couldve went to SMW at that time without any problem. There was questions at that time about how SMW would effect both guys but I think hindsight shows us that they wouldve put on a great show there at that time.

I remember being pissed at Hopkins back then for wanting a bigger share than RJ. I was like, how are you going to seriously demand a bigger share when RJ is a bigger name in the sport, the P4P #1 fighter in the sport, is unbeaten, and already has a win over you? It was like the dumbest thing ever. Everyone laughs at RJ's 60/40 Ill kick yo ass line but that **** was real talk. 60/40 was more than fair but I saw Hopkins in every interview say that after the MW tourney, there is no way that RJ can get a bigger share than him. It was dumb.

Thats why Im so baffled & upset now. You bitched & cried non stop back then about how you wont fight RJ without getting a larger share even though RJ had all those legitmate reasons that I named earlier about how he should get a bigger share, yet you are now fighting him for 50/50 when your name is just as big or bigger in the sport, you are rated way higher, you are clearly the better P4P fighter, and he is coming off of a horrible loss. Still you accept 50/50 but back then you wanted more than 50?

That **** dont make any sense. If RJ can get 50 with Hopkins now then there is no way in hell that he shouldnt have gotten 60 back then. That just shows you how dumb Bernard is and how he ruined that mega fight. It wouldve been a master piece IMO and this fool ****ed it up. Now he's fighting this shot, crap, non ranked version of RJ for 50 when his name is just as big or even bigger? **** 60 for the KO, you should be getting 60 anyways, at the least. This fool shouldve takened the 40 back then and he should be getting 60 now. I dont get it.
A lot of fights should've happened already, but that's Boxing sometimes...

          are you seriously this ******?

if you knew anything you'd realise what a dunce you are, anyone that actually follows the sport like a true fan knows how underrated john ruiz is

Yeah, that was hopkins master plan. He paid Rocky to hire Tarver to play the role in the movie, just so that hopkins could then drain him and beat him for his title. What an evil genius!
Beat me to it. There's your answer. And I really like John Ruiz as a person; but Underrated... Find me 5 people other than Roy nutthuggers that will co-sign on that.

Bundy... You can't be serious. Beat the crap out of him??? That fight was as dull as the Hopkins Calzaghe fight. Hardly anything to brag about.

they both had a case to demand the larger split. It should have been 50/50 right after bhop beat trinidad, but I don't blame jones or hopkins, they both messed it up.

And roy didn't beat the crap out of hopkins back in 93, rewatch the fight. It was actually a slow paced, pretty boring and very cautious fight. Both guys were a bit green and neither had any real tests up to that point in their pro careers.

idk, roy fought with a broken hand and still managed to beat hopkins.
i actually think roy jones jr. is the only who defeated hopkins since his loss in his first pro fight probably.

                  Your RighT!!!

Hopkins won BOTH TAYLOR fights but i could see the first one being a draw. But Hopkins didn't lose those fights at all.

Calzaghe vs Hopkins was a dull fight, but Hopkins landed the Harder Cleaner punches and Calzaghe just threw punches in the air the whole time.

Jones clearly beat Hopkins but it wasn't a beating at all. It was a very dull cautious fight that was not a crowd pleaser.

You're right, back in 02 the fight would have been awesome. I think, just as in the first fight, Roy's lateral movement, quick hands and reflexes would have won the day. And I love Hopkins. That's just the way I see it.
