Mayweather is passed his best, but his mind is well intact.

I said this before the Marquez fight, but Floyd was still very sharp.

That statistic just might have some influence on his punch-stat numbers don't you agree?

I agree with this. This may not be the very best version of Floyd, but he has slipped very little and is still near the top of his game. On top of that he doesn't seem to have the hand problems that he had earlier in his career. Prime can't be defined by an age. Different fighters have different primes. I think a lot of it has to do with how well you take care of yourself both physically and mentally. Floyd has done both those things very well.

If Shane kicks his ass.........forget everything I just wrote.

I feel I could be eating my words too, because I believe Mosley is a part of the group of fighters that age like fine wine, such as Hopkins. Although not as fast, they have a lot to offer even for their age.

Sure. Just like age may have some influence on performance, period.

Floyd has never been in his prime at 147. You can clearly see this. He throws less punches and his reflexes and footwork aren't as good as they once were. But in my opinion Floyd still beats everybody all the way up to 147.

Good. That significantly weakens your argument below as we now agree that the added weight contributes to those signs of decrease that you see.

                I rest my case.

Two things show when an athletic fighter like Mayweather has begun to descend - his legs begin to slow down and the amount of combinations he throws greatly decrease. Both were obvious against Marquez, especially when you watch those highlight videos that run through the years.

I'm getting the feeling Mosley will be Hopkins like as well. He has the skills, he's been in the wars he's learned from, and with Naazim training him he will learn to mask the talents he has lost.

To the topic at hand, Mayweather isn't prime, that was at 135 or 140 especially. He is still damn close though, his reflexes and speed are still at a level most can't match. He's also damn intelligent inside a ring too so he will be able to mask the skills he eventually loses.
