Comments Thread For: Nicky Cook is On The Comeback Trail

Nicky Cook, 29-2 (16), did things the traditional way as a featherweight, winning British, Commonwealth and European titles en route to a vacant WBO world title shot against the American stylist Steve Luevano; Cook came up short in that one, losing by KO in the 11th round, before regrouping at super-feather, where he beat Kirkor Kirkorov and then relieved Alex Arthur of the WBO title. cook just aint at world level beating arthur for a world title that guzman vacated gifted two brithish fighters the chance to get their hands on the title.both lost it with their first defense,i had 100pound on martinez to ko cook without knowing much about him the one thing i did know was cook was at a level that was to high for him 4rounds in boom i won my bet.

I agree with the poster above that Cook isn't world class and was very lucky to win a world title....that said I'm glad to see he is coming back!

He's on the pile with Gavin Rees, Alex Arthur and even Carl Froch and perhaps Khan if he loses to Paulie, of British fighters who just don't cut it at World level.

Yeah but he was horribly exposed against Taylor who is by all accounts "shot" and still floored him and out boxed him for most of the fight, and Dirrell who is very inexperienced made Froch look very bad. When he steps up against the likes of Kessler and Abraham you'll see that he won't be able to hang with the World level fighters.

I agree Taylor was beating him badly..... but what did he do? he took it came back strong and knocked him out, no lucky one punch he just grounded through it. Dirrell will make a lot of fighters look horrible with his style but i agree froch was piss poor that night..... but no where near as bad as kessler against ward! Truth be told we won't know until he fights them but to compare him to nicky cook? hell no..
