Should Roy Jones be saved from himself?

I was watching the "Facing Ali" film and I dunno, so many of his former opponents sound terrible, not even mentioning Ali himself. I just don't wanna see in 10 years Roy Jones being unable to talk. He is clearly totally passed it, even if his hands are still quick, I feel Hopkins will ko him. Should he be denied a licence to fight?

I respect Jones and his accomplisments, which why I say YES! He should be denied a licence. I don't know why Hopkins took this fight and why any commision would sanction it.

        No.

It would be incredibly hypocritical if they denied Jones a license while other guys who get knocked out on a very regular basis are allowed to fight. One rule for all. You can't just ban Jones on the basis that he used to be great.

He knows the risks, if he were in a bad shape he would stop.

I don't like the idea of old guys still fighting (Holyfield, Jones ect) but it's up to them..

          I will always support Rjjr.

I agree. I'd still like to see Jones retire, though.

Yeah, he should have been retired for a while but when you are getting KO'd in 2 minutes by career journeyman the writing is definately on the wall.

Unfortunately for his fans Roy can't or doesn't want to see that. Hopefully he can put in one last respectable performance against Hopkins before walking off into the sunset to enjoy his retirement.

Why? because hes a big star? Is his life and health more important than other boxers?

You have tons and tons of journeymen out there getting KO'd and taking a huge amount of punishment everytime they step into the ring. Those journeymen take more punishment in less than a year than Roy has been taking in his whole career and they can also fight 10-15 fights every year.

I never heard anyone being worried and saying they shouldnt be allowed to fight, because at the end of the day nobody gives a damn about them. If RJJ should be denied a licence to fight then so should most of the journeymen.

if he continues he will end up bad, look at this interview now compared to a few years back, the dude is making less and less sense by the hour.
