How could you know what Lamar Odom would turn into as a fighter unless he spent his whole life learning the craft, and he is far from the prime example.

Yeah, the point of the thread though, is that NFL and pro footballers wouldnt automatically be good boxers.

How many would have though had they devoted their life to the craft of boxing, sure only a small percentage of the thousands that try to make it in those sports would make it in the fight game.

There are some no doubt and no one knows that number to say for certain.

well explain it then. Why does the HW division suck so badly? I mean, I look around and I see very few athletic fighters right now. There are the top guys, the klitschkos, who are in tremendous physical shape and good athletes, and the rest of the division is full of un-athletic, out of shape lazy bums!

Clearly there is a lack of talent.

Its simply doesn't, it just seems like everyone is so bad because a couple of guys are so much better than everyone else.

If the K-bros weren't fighting now everyone would be talking about the stacked competitive HW division.

Mark Eaton was found in his late 20s working as a mechanic. Turned out he made a pretty decent shot blocker in the NBA. There could be a future world champ working at McDonalds right now.

That doesn't change the fact that the excuses why the Eastern European boxers are dominating the HW division right now are just that, excuses.

There are only so many large athletic men in the world as you go up in size the ranks thin out now taking into account what it take mentally to be a top fighter the ranks thin even more so any that get taking out of the fight game for whatever pursuit just cant be replace by some dude who is an ok athlete that happean to have boxed his whole life.

Now rugby and football players are generally smaller then NFL and NBA players but I am sure some of them could make damn good middle weights light heavies maybe cruiser but the big boys they are not.

It is impossible to say what these athletes would do in the fight game had they devoted their life to boxing instead of some other pursuit. I am sure some would be quality though.
