Floyd stood in front of his opponents at 130, 135, and 140. He went to war with Augustus, Chavez, and Corley. He wiped the floor with Hernandez and Corrales. He had a close quarter fight with Castillo. At 147, Floyd's utilized a lot more movement. It's interesting watching a fighter evolve through weight classes. You don't move up 5 weight divisions by being ordinary.

By the way, if you want to see that killer instinct at 147, watch the Hatton fight.
      my thoughts exactly

alot of people are very unfair on floyd, they look at his style and say he is a runner but they forget that he is actually a 140lb fighter fighting at 147 or 154. floyd does have the ability to stand toe to toe and deliver power punches just watch the fights he had down at 130-140.

however it would be suicide for him to have continued with the same mindset higher up the weight classes. he had to utilise his movement, his footwork and his exceptional skills, the thing is instead of being complimented for his skills and versatility he was lambasted and criticzed.

if floyd had continued to fight with the same mentality as he did when he was at LW he would have lost to DLH and a few others. fighters like ssm who have gone up in weight but continued with the same mindset and style have enjoyed limited success (wins against vargas and mayorga are balanced with losses to wright).

i think to a degree the success of pacman and the comparisons between the two have meant floyd has lost some of his shine and lustre. pacman has managed to go through the weights with the same furious and intense style and people have thought why can't pbf do that as well? imo those ae the fight fans who can't quite appreciate the finer skills in the sweet science.

anyways i agree with your last point as well, pbf is a thoroughbred, a craftsman at work in the ring. i think like all quality boxers when he has his man, he doesn't let him go and that killer instinct is still very much there.

that the opponent is too focused on what floyd is going to do next and not sticking to the gameplan.

Interesting analysis, which better translates to "Once Oscar saw he was unable to score with the jab as much as in the earlier rounds, he stopped throwing it as much"

btw "focusing on what Floyd is going to do next" is an effect of accurate counterpunching. Everyone is susceptible to that.

go watch the fight, floyd frustrated oscar and he forgot to use the jab.go watch oscar's previous fights he has a tendency to do so..that is why floyd sr always yells at him to use his jab...and even roger said that the way to beat floyd is with a damn good jab which none of the fighters except oscar has.

agree with u to a certain extent on the second one though..

And another thing... How do you get inside a fighters head who is arguably the most arrogant and ****y (Don't mistake this for pride) man on the planet... You can not get in this man's head he makes savvy moves in and out of the ring if you think not, look at the rematch clause in his mosley fight...
The guy is diligent,he leaves nothing to chance. He works so hard and gives it his all.He even wakes up at 0100 to go out jogging, what do you say about such a person?Worse still he knows how not to waste energy even though he is fitter than his opponents. He knows how to take steam out of his opponents.

Floyd will be appreciated years from now,as for Mosley he only has a punchers chance I think.

He admits that Mayweather is a tough challenge.

Says he's going to watch film of Mayweather, and come up with a suitable plan to beat him using Mosley's style of fighting.

Cotto was making Margarito look like a clown until he gased out and the bricks took their effect. Not hard to look great against Margarito...but I expect Shane to be mentally very strong in the fight.
well preserved physically. He has in many interviews slurred his words... it's kinda sad. No hate but i'm sure if you google ESPN shane mosley interviews i'm sure you going to find one or two.

I like how Margachito with his civilian speed and sieve defense is the stepping stone for shane :/... he's so comparable to floyd. It's like saying clotty is as good as Pac...

Dude, go watch Floyd's fight with Emmanual Burton and you'll see the heart that most of Floyd's fans are already aware of.
