Yes, I do agree that Miranda knows that he's in over his head but he can't realistically refuse this offer, can he? Anyways, HBO didn't want to hear about Brinkley, so Interbox and Bute had to give in.

He basically said he has nothing against Bute and will respect him before the fight and after the fight. During the fight he comes to win and will go home with the belt. After the fight, 'win or lose' I would enjoy going out to lunch with Bute.

That was more on the line of what Miranda actually said.
Yes, I don't think we should criticize Miranda for showing some sportmanship. Bute is as classy as they get and it's fair that Miranda acts the same way. They will try to trash each other in the ring but they can be very respectful out of it. In fact, I think it's a sign that Miranda is growing as a person, getting more mature. This is not WWE folks...

I don't understand why you're trying to depreciate what Bute does. Your analysis is not right. I mean, you can actually think that this fight is not worth HBO, that's fair but saying he just fought B and C level fighters is not! Within the last two or three years he faced the best opposition within the super-middle ranks.

Think about this, here are the guys Bute fought within the last three years:
Legitimate opposition: Librado Andrade (X2), Alejandro Berrio, Sakio Bika. Those guys were all Top 10 contenders (The Ring).
Soft opposition: William Joppy, Sergey Tatevosyan. Not killers, I agree.
Average between: Fulgencio Zuniga, Edison Miranda. Those guys were not top 10 but were still battle tested and dangerous.

So, this means that within the last three years, Bute fought four times against top 10 contenders, fought two softer opponents (still, Bute fought Tatevosyan when going up the rankings and Joppy was his first defense, that's legitimate) and fought Zuniga, which is also a legitimate fight even though he was not a big threat for Bute. Miranda is somewhat at the same level, even though he's probably more dangerous than Zuniga.

Now, you can tell me that those are all B or C level opponents but that's irrelevant. Bute is not in the super 6 (not his fault, he wasn't invited) and those are the opponents that are in front of him. What else can he do? Take vacations and wait for the Super 6 to end? The fact of the matter is that he has the best level of opposition, in the super middle, within the last three years. Only Froch is at par with him.

Yeah, but all the **** talking is a lot more fun. Miranda has an excellent trainer now to go with his enormous power so the outcome of this bout is certainly not a forgone conclusion. It would not be surprising for Bute to get KO'd. Miranda may be trying to lull him in.

I think Butes resume is not impressive so far. Maybe Miranda can expose him. If not i have more respect for Bute who has not beaten anybody of note besides Andrade and Andrade is not that good either. Miranda has an helluva reach, if he only would use it better...

Bute will win easy, without getting hit...he is very slick. Look for the ko from Bute around the 6 round, like always upstairs and the finishing touch downstairs.
