Edwin Valero: The Latin Aaron Pryor

    Yea I said b*tches.

Valero might look raw, crude, unintelligent, undisciplined, but nothing could be further from the truth. Ive seen sparring sessions of valero vs urbano antillon, the santa cruz brothers, & erik morales. The guy has technique believe or not. He might not be your classical technique fighter but there is a method to his madness. Much like aaron pryor, valero is a skilled brawler. He is very aware defensively, but that gets overlooked due to the fact that he is so offensive.

Much like aaron pryor, valero is keenly aware when to pull back just enough not to get hit with big massive punches. People say he doenst have enough defense, i say balderdash. You cant have everything. Mayweather has great defense but people complain he is boring & doesnt take chances. Valero, just like pryor & the phoenix suns, uses their offense as their defense. A little polishing up with his technique, strategy, & a upgrade in the corner, you could see a great fighter in the making with valero.

I noticed tonight that Valero's defensive abilities are underrated. He, much like Carl Froch, is great at using his legs to keep the perfect amount of distance between him and the other guys punches.

He also, like Antonio Margarito knows how to roll his head with punches. So even when you think he's getting caught, he's actually taking the full impact of the punch off by rolling his head.

Mayorga may be the best at this.

He seemed to be dodging and making De Marco miss alot that's for sure.. with a good trainer this guy can be a real beast.. im wondering how much he can go up to in weight eventually though.. he didn't look massive in there tonight.

please burner, ive never seen you make a valero thread before. I do love power punching southpaws with offensive styles. That's why im a big fan of pacquiao, valero, kirkland, & paul williams although he loses points because you nuthug him so much although you seem to have switched your allegiance to fraud jr.

valero is very athletic & quick on his feet. if he stays disciplined & gets a first class trainer the sky's the limit.

that is a very interesting comparison. he sort of does remind you of pryor albeit a southpaw version. he has a very underrated skill set.
