Martinez will be Kelly's first serious threat to his belts since he won them. The weakest reign in recent MW history continues, at least for now.
I agree, this is what gets me about Pavlik, I was always telling my semi-boxing friends about Pavlik, saying he was gonna be the next champion and once he wins the lineal title, he does shiet with it. He has done nothing in like almost 3 yrs, for real: Taylor rematch, loss to Hopkins, Rubio, and Espino....the last two are no names before the Pavlik fight. That is not a champion caliber defense legacy if you ask me. Since the Hopkins episode, he has been shook I think. I feel his team thinks Martinez will be easy work....the dude had 4 weeks to prepare for the Williams fight for one and his style will give Pavlik problems I'm serious about this fight. I often bet just for the fun of it but certain fights I am sure about, this is one of them, Martinez will tag Pavlik up most of the fight. Pavlik will land some good shots but he will have to chase Martinez around to do anything and Martinez will counter Kelly before he throws the right.....watch, Kelly will throw 2 jabs and as he throws the right, Martinez will counter with his left all night,

this is going to be a great fight. i think martinez's speed and boxing will come out on top though. yes kelly will be bigger and stronger but martinez will have speed on his side, and he's a pretty slick boxer, i can see him slipping and fainting kelly for most of the fight. he also has a decent chin. pavlik doesn't have the workrate pwill does so martinez will stay fresh the whole fight.

I disagree with your assesment of the Williams/ Martinez fight but I do respect it. I also think Team Pavlik wants none of P.Will, but that's my opinion. Lastly i agree that this fight is good news in the since that we are going to have a deserving MW champion one way or another wne this fight is done for the first time in years. Hooray for boxing.

Pavlik will stop him unless Martinez chin somehow holds up. For being a smaller guy, Martinez just isn't perfect enough to pull this off. Paul Williams had him ready to go late in that fight, but couldn't put that one punch on him that would have pushed Martinez over the edge. I like Martinez early in this fight, but Pavlik's power and size will likely be too much.

                  Pavlik late KO.
