That seems like the strategy. Why not go after the Middleweight king, take his belts, get a good name on your resume and go back at Williams? There will more money involved at this point and its not like Martinez is taking an easy win. There's a lot of danger involved with this decision.

I hope so but I dont think it will happen.I hope Martinez smokes Kelly Pavlik like an Optimo when the fight happens. Pavlik got to the point of where he was protected almost as bad as Berto outside of the Hopkins fight. Martinez didn't really have any control over his opponents because the networks didn't even want to take notice of him until this past year.
Pavlik is a guy that has the same stamina as Williams and he throws alot of punches.
Martinez had troubles with Cintron because of his jab and power. Pavlik could KO this dude.Comment

KO is possible, but Pavlik is too stationary and he is by no means a counter puncher which Cintron was doing against Martinez.
Judging from all the Pavlik fights I've seen, my boxing brain is telling me that Martinez should have an easier time with Pavlik than he did with Williams because Pavlik doesn't have the athleticism to stick on Martinez like Williams did. He wont make Martinez fight at the tempo Williams did either.
But, this is boxing and anything can happen.Comment

How long has it been since Showtime counter programmed HBO? Showtime came out and said We will give boxing on the first Saturday of every month... HBO has the other 3 Saturday to go with... Yet they counter programmed with Showtime... Just recently Showtime was going to show Bradley-Peterson on Dec 5. then HBO comes out and has gives that date to Shane, then they give the same date to Pavlik-Williams... Then Showtime decides to move Bradley-Peterson to Dec 12 and HBO goes ahead and puts Diaz-Malignaggi rematch on Dec 12... Showtime does make the effort to not counter program... HBO on the other hand they don't give a fuck... And, by them doing that is them splitting ratings... Some fans are going to watch the Showtime or the HBO fights... And, by them they don't get the full ratings that they should be getting... And, in return if Showtime does not get the ratings back from the money the spend on boxing then they going to cut the budget some more.... HBO has already cut 15million this year from there boxing programing... That is why we are going to get less Boxing After Dark show this year... So we are getting less boxing now on TV and that is killing the sport bro... HBO with being in bed with Al Haymon giving blind dates to a dirty ass promotional company like Golden boy and counter programming with Showtime... Is killing the sport... Is proving by them cutting there budget by 15 million dollars... Showtime had this date... Why not put this fight on April 10 or April 24 and get the full share of the ratings? that makes more business sense...Comment

Yeah Martinez could outbox him easy. But I think something has to be said for Pavliks jab. You know me I hate Pavlik. I just think it will be interesting Williams hit Sergio alot. Then Sergio got tired. Pavlik throws alot too just slower with heavier hands. I could see Martinez gassing again and getting stopped late. But who knows Martinez might just be too slick for him.KO is possible, but Pavlik is too stationary and he is by no means a counter puncher which Cintron was doing against Martinez.
