ATTN Boxing Fans!! PLEASE HELP ME decypher what Freddie Roach means by this!!!

"Yuri was more of a boxer, and Manny doesn't want to be in a boring fight (which is why we didnt make the fight). So, 154 might be stretching it a little bit. I think that 147 is as high as we're really going to go. But you know, we'll see what presents itself after this fight. If Mayweather doesn't come around, Manny might retire."

I have a problem with this quote because to me it implies that they really dont plan on fighting Mayweather. If they dont want to fight Yuri Foreman because he is a "boxer", then what makes anyone thinks they would be hyped up to fight Mayweather who is probably the most pure boxer in the history of the sport?

Does Freddie Roach know or think his fighter would have problems with a pure boxer?

Also, what is up with this retiring talk?

The reason a Floyd fight would be different is... for starters it isn't Yuri Foreman.

TS, i suggest you merely take whatever Roach says with a grain of salt. See, he has a tendency to go 180 degrees on his statements and change his mind. Its not that he's fickle or anything, but his personality is he tells it as he sees it but things change in time.

For example, for a while Roach himself thought that Manny fighting Cotto was a long stretch but we know what happened eventually.

Basically what he's saying is that Manny is simply not yet ready to fight at 154, even if it is against Yuri.

Also, we already know that both Roach and Manny want to have a shot at beating Floyd with Roach's statement that Manny would fight the winner between Floyd and Mosley.
