Pac's big trio of MAB, Erik, and JMM ****s on Floyd's entire resume
Floyd had no chance in this FOTD discussion
it was just logical to talk about while comparing them in everything else

well after the 1st JMM fight he took on really nobody. he fought Morales 2 more times after that. and Morales was worn out because of his MAb wars and wars previous to pacquiao!!!

the point of single out 2000 -2003 is becuase that is part of the decade. Should we disregard that like we disregard his losses and draws????

MAB won against Ayala in 10 rounds after he got demolished by Pacquiao. What does that tell you?

comes down to pacquiao being fighter of the year 3 times and floyd 1 time.

also, floyd's two year absence and not fighting any top ranked welterweight for a long stretch of time hurt him in the end.

If mayweather would have came back a year earlier, or if he would have fought somebody like cotto at WW, he would be fighter of the century w/o question.

He still has time to cement his own legacy.
Velazquez, larios, solis, diaz are all pretty weak to me. And I already stated how I feel about a washed Morales and MAB wins. The 1st win against MAB- kudos to him, but hat sec fight was garbage and the last fight with morales was garbage. He lost to a over the hill Morales for Christ sakes.
Our fighter of the decade has been taking Ls left and right throughout the decade!!!

pacquiao has only been fighter of the yr 3 times becuase no one ever expected much from him. Floyd has been expected to show greatness his whole career. When Floyd wins, he suppose to. Manny has never had to live up to those expectations.

so those 2 yrs off for retirement after dominating your whole career trumps not fighting anybody worth note for 3 yrs!!!

I agree he should have fought Cotto before retiring, but what i'm gon tell him when he ahs been dominating for years! he deserved a break...

Actually it was based on what he did, who he beat and how he beat them.

I agree he should have fought Cotto before retiring, but what i'm gon tell him when he ahs been dominating for years! he deserved a break...
yeah he's been dominating but there's too many years when he fought guys that simply do not equal "fighter of the year" or he didn't fight enough times and other people had better years.

I mean look at it when you break down his opponents by year:

                      2009 - Marquez
                      2008 - Retired
2007 - FIGHTER OF THE YEAR
                      2006 - Baldomir, Judah
2005 - Sharmba Mitchell, Arturo Gatti, Henry Bruseles
                      2004 - DeMarcus Corley
                      2003 - Phillip N'dou, Victoriano Sosa
                      2002 - Castillo twice
2001 - Jesus Chavez, Carlos Hernandez, Diego Corrales

So the one year he COULD have had fighter of the year, other than 2007 which he won, was 2001, and in 2001 the fighter of the year was Bernard Hopkins who was POUND 4 POUND #1 in the sport and he deserved that title by a long shot.
