2000: Floyd was a champ and defended against a former titlist in Vargas; Pac went 3-0, stopping an undefeated future title challenger in Hussein. Edge = PBF

2001: Floyd's best year IMO; Corrales was a great win, rated higher in the division and P4P by Ring at the time, and Hernandez and Chavez were both legit contenders, ending a memorable 130 reign which rates with some of the best ever at the weight; Pac had Ledwaba, who was in the hunt as far as being the best Jr. Feather at the time; Sanchez went to a technical draw Sanchez basically fouled his way to. Great year for both but Floyd had three good wins to Manny's one. Edge = PBF

2002: Pac beats a faded former titlist in Julio; Mayweather gets the benefit of the doubt against Castillo (I had him losing by a point) but mans up and takes the rematch, winning with a late pull away in another good fight spending the year as Lightweight champ. Edge = PBF

2003: Floyd fights Sosa in a typical, ho-hum type fight after two hard ones; follows with N'Dou, a Jr. Lightweight who was rated tenth at 130 by Ring at the time in another ho-hum outing; Manny routs a future HOFer in Barrera for the Feather crown. Edge = Pac

2004: Pac draws with a future HOFer in Marquez, dropping him three times to open a classic along with a ho-hum follow up; Floyd fights once against Corley and has a fun win. Edge = Pac

2005: Floyd fights three guys with no chance of winning in Bruseles, Gatti, and Mitchell in the most disappointing year of his career opposition wise, but at least wins a belt off Gatti; Manny moves to 30, loses a close one to a Morales coming off a great year where he beat Chavez, hernandez, and barely lost an ATG fight with Barrera, in a great fight and adds a win along the lines of Floyd's. Edge = Push (Losing a great fight to a great fighter is at least equal to winning three gimmes.)

2006: Floyd fights Judah off a loss to Baldo and then Baldo for the Welter crown; Pac fights Morales off a loss to Raheem, Larios off a cut loss to Vasquez, and then Morales again. The former Olympian Raheem > Baldo; Judah isn't man enough to carry Morales's jock. Morales and Larios, even with wear, were still better fighters than Baldo and drilling Morales into the floor twice is impressive when no one else could ever do it. Edge = Pac

2007: Pac wastes time with a fringe Feather contender in Solis and an unneccesary Barrera rematch; Floyd takes on Oscar for a belt at 54 and then knocks out the Jr. Welter champ. Edge = Floyd

2008: Floyd is off; Pac beats Marquez for the 130 crown in another great, close fight and probably gets too much love for beating a beltholding fringe contender in Diaz at Lightweight and an Oscar whose just done. Still, edge Pac.

2009: Floyd comes back, misses weight, and beats a Marquez who has no business at Welter but is still the reigning Lightweight champ and an acceptable comeback foe; Pac beats Hatton to become the first in history to win four lineal titles and then forces a catch to win a title claim in his seventh division overall against Cotto. Big edge Pac.

So there's not a huge gap and in weighing the decade, Floyd gave it away more than anything in the last two years. If you're "scoring" the ten years, Pac wins 5-4-1. In terms of big wins, they're not that far apart but Pac did things which have never been done before in terms of titles and that's a big aid.

Stopping Morales for the first time off a stinky loss to a stinky style is better than safely decisioning an Oscar whose only win in three plus years coming in was Mayorga.

      Yes.

Oscar was a better win than David Diaz for sure though. I'll even give you that Oscar was a better win for Floyd than Manny.

For 2004, the fact he dropped JMM 3 times in the 1st rd and got a draw is a detraction for me. I understand your point about him being a future HOFer, but I can’t give him the edge in 04 for essentially losing a fight to JMM.
2005, gatti was another title in another division. (Also coupled with the fact hatton defeated tzyu and was unwilling to fight Floyd at the time and cotto wasn’t ready as well.) pacquiao losing to Morales just doesn’t trump Floyd wining aginst gatti and receiving another belt in another division.
2006. I disagree with 2006, in my eyes beating the former undisputed champ of WW and the lineal champ of WW trumps beating a larios after defeat and an washed up Morales after defeat to raheem. I just don’t see how u give that edge to Pac…that’s crazy to me!
So in my opinion, Floyd had 6 yrs better to pacquaio’s 3. So we can agree to disagree

I agree to a point. I would have given Floyd the edge in 2005 with the loss to Morales and 2004 is a push. But in 2006....Pac was fighter of the year.....that year is unquestionably belonging to Pac.

Also it was a draw with Marquez in 2004.....quit saying it's a JMM win. Had the judge not committed an error, it would been a Pac win.

Yes and I could be persuaded that it's 6-4 because Floyd's 05 was such epic garbage but winning against junk should at least count for a little against losing.

There is no case for Floyd over Manny in 04. They both won a fight against a guy they were supposed to beat AND Manny adds a draw in a classic with a HOFer. Done. Manny.
