i don't know why he retired......any reasons given are just speculation....the fact is though that he did.......that is FACT. So he had 2 long lay-offs (or semi-retirements) the last being 18 months.......so factually he has not been a welter for 5 years.........

pac is the face of boxing he doesn't need to do what floyd says. if floyd says jump does pacquiao say how high. Mayweather is shook of pac. He would rather take on a known PED user than fight a clean fighter. floyd saw the demolition of cotto hatton and oscar and thought otherwise. Floyd is shook of pac.

Trying to gain some attention for the Pacquiao vs Clottley fight Freddie Cochroach?

This Clottley vs Pacquiao fight reminds me of the Pacquiao vs Diaz fight. Team Pacquiao fighting the straight ahead fighter for less money because they believe it is the safer fight for Manny with regard to winning or losing.

****roach needs to help Manny duck and weave in the ring (defense is Pacquiao's biggest weakness), not when picking fights.

I don't ride with everything he does nor do i give Pac **** for everything he does. It's just that Pac's recent actions have left a sour tast in my mouth.

I have given Pac full credit for taking Clottey and have not been on here discrediting him as a legit opponent, in fact i have been doing the opposite.....i have been talking up his chances. Unlike some people who assert floyd would never fight shane and then when he does...they discredit Shane.

Switch all you do is attack posters directly.....you can't intelligently refute their posts....or even give a decent analysis of why and how u think one fighter will beat another.

Not silly at all. Its obvious to non haters that can see things clearly that Mayweather chose that fight to set up a fight with Manny. Marquez gave Manny life and death. Mayweather dominated him like he was an armature. Its the comparisons that set up that fight. People want to see if Floyd could do the same to Pac. The whole problem is, I think that fight scared Pac and Roach. Where are they now? Fighting Clottey who recently lost to Cotto. And they are still refusing the random drug tests. Either Pac is roiding or he's plain scared, bottom line.

How so! Agreeing to everything in the rules of boxing thats existed for the last 100 years is a sign of fear. you are a tool.

I framed my point around whether or not as some posters had suggested, that Mayweather should have gotten the nod. A lot goes into the thought process of these writers and it wasn't a closely contested vote in favor of Pac.

Mayweather who came in second, the writers probably asked themselves a simple question... since 2005 to present, half a decade...what ranked opposition within the welterweight division did Mayweather fight and then they critiqued his opposition and voted accordingly.

Listen i love SSM...big fan...i don't see how any1 could not be. However this is a guy who used PED's in his climb from 135 to 147. He used the cream (a masking agent) the clear and EPO.

He does not deserve fighter of the decade. I beleive he has learnt his lesson and is 100% clean since this information became public....but lets be real here.....at the time of it's design THG was the most potent "known" steroid out there.....couple that with EPO and it gives an already accomplished pugilist a big advantage.....particularly in the championship rounds.

I think he has earned the respect through hardwork and rightfully deserves a pardon because of it, now that is certainly debatable and just my two cents.I know this steroid thing is a big issue, but it certainly didn't help Fernando Vargas against ODLH. It may enhance power but it can't enhance chin.

I don't completely discount Mayweather either as I'd be blind to ignore his accomplishment--pre-welter.

My only gripe shared by many others that you would label as haters, is that he starts down the path of fighting legitimate welterweights or jr.middle as he ages and his body grows into the division.

He is not a jr welter.....he is a welter......he made 146 after an 18 month layoff........if he can do that after a long layoff and look as good as he did he is a welter......and he is fighting the strongest welter in the division come May 1.

Shane is prob the only guy in boxing who can admit to cheating and still be loved the way he is. I mean it really has done virtually zero damage to his reputation.
