If it wasn't for Joe Louis there would have never been a Jackie Robinson.
whats the name of the Robinson book, I'd like to check it out.
some other great boxing reads are "Hands of stone", "Larry Holmes: Against the odds", "Barney Ross", ".Charley Burley and the black murderers row", "Unforgivable blackness", "Joe Louis", and Don King: His life and crimes". I've read a few others besides these, but these were well worth reading
Havent read it. Which one did you read? Sugar Ray or Pound for Pound?
Reminds me that I have to finish Raging Bull. Would also like to order Hands of Stone.
I read "Raging bull" and didn't think that highly of it. It didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. Imean it wasn't bad, but it didn't grab me, if you know what I mean.
Get "Barney Ross" by Douglas Century. Excellent, excellent book!

I know exactly what you mean. Kind of the reason I put it down. A little hesitant to read up on Ray Robinson for the same reason.
Put Barney Ross in my cart. Thanks again.
Did you read Atlas? If you did, what did you think?
I thought it was a good book. Don't want to spoil anything for you if you do decide to read it one day. He was a real wild dude. He gives some great insight on some of the fighters he's worked with.
