Hopkins - Jones a done deal!

American greats Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr will meet in an April rematch - 17 years after their first bout.

The fight was confirmed in a statement from Hopkins' representatives Swanson Communications, and will take place on Saturday, April 3 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The pair will participate in promotional events in New York and Los Angeles on Tuesday and Wednesday, but have already begun talking up their chances.

Jones (54-6, 40 KOs), who won his first meeting with Hopkins by unanimous decision, said: "We're giving the fans what they want to see. They deserve this fight and why not supply the fans with what they demand?

"Now I can finally terminate 'The Executioner' once and for all. My new nickname for this fight will be 'The Terminator'."

Hopkins (50-5-1, 32 KOs) said: "A rematch with Roy has been in the back of my mind for a long time and it's finally going to happen.

"I have accomplished a lot in my career since that night in Washington, DC in 1993, and I am going to end this thing between me and Roy once and for all."

Why is RJJ taking this fight? It cant be because of money which is the only reason i can think of.
If there is one thing going for RJJ it is his one win over BH all those years back. If BH beats RJJ it takes that one advantage away from RJJ.
RJJ has kind of harmed his legacy, and now is going all the way with trying to ruin it.
Its always sad when a name retires, but i never believed RJJ would be the type of boxer not to know when to call it a day. Considering his mate McCellan is in hospital.

I just hope this will still be an exciting fight though, it should be worth the money and beers not to count the productive work lost.
