    Abner Mares-Yonnhy Perez

*** Yonnhy Perez has signed the contract. Abner is expected to sign it in the near future. This fight is really close to happening on May 22nd!!!

The fascinating bantamweight matchup between beltholder Yohhny Perez (20-0, 14 knockouts) and young contender Abner Mares (19-0, 12 KOs) has finally been agreed upon by the fighters, according to sources with both camps.

Perez-Mares will be the Showtime-televised co-feature to the fourth Israel Vazquez-Rafael Marquez fight that takes place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on May 22.

The bout, which promises non-stop action as well as world-class skill and technique, was proposed weeks ago but only Mares, THE RING's No. 8-ranked bantamweight, had agreed to the terms of the fight. That is until Monday, when Perez, THE RING's No. 4-ranked bantamweight, signed the contract.

Mares had verbally agreed to terms and still has to sign the contract to make the bout official, but his manager Frank Espinoza has told RingTV.com that the signing is a mere formality.

Blow out. Mares is one of the most talented youngsters in the game, and he will kill Yonnhy Perez.

Lopsided Decision, mayb late stoppage but Mares isnt really a puncher and Perez is hella tough

I whish Abner the best! This could be the beginning of bigger fights for Abner. I enjoy watching him fight, hopefully he gets with ****m Richardson or any other notable trainer, his current one is ****! abner is getting by with what he already knows, he needs a real trainer now, before he ends up like cotto.

This is a huge step in Competition for Mares. I thin Johnnys strngth and punch out will be too much for Mares at this stage. If Mares pulls it off, then he is teh goods for real. Perez aint no joke!

Abner will rack up the early rounds. Then Perez will go chasing after him and just get out boxed. 8-4 mares

You've got to figure though that even if Mares loses this fight, there is no shame in that. Perez is a durable fighter. I think Mares will have a future win or lose. By the way. I think that Perez could beat Penalosa and Ponce De Leon at any weight. Just thought I'd get that out there.
