Not necessarily better but i would say that these fights are on the same level:
- Michael Carbajal vs Humberto Gonzalez I
- Barrera vs Morales I & 3
- Gatti vs Ward I
- Gatti vs Robinson I
GREAT POST - I forgot about the Chiquita-Carbajal showdown, my grandparents were in Phoenix for Carbajal's grand home-coming following the victory, it was one of the biggest fiesta's in the history of Arizona....
I haven't heard any Chavez-Taylor comments in this thread yet, that one's still gotta be top 5 all-time.....
I think my avatar says how much I liked Hagler-Hearns but I will say that this fight is equal, if not better, than that one because of two things: it is more recent and the fight lasted longer (therefore, more action).
wow I just watching it t see toney and winky, haha winky was waving his arms all over the place on his cell and toney was jumping around all crazy in his nice suit.
On Saturday all they thru were power punches and they were repeatedly hurt and they continue to come back.
the difference...
is that both thomas hearns and marvin hagler both punch much harder than castillo or corrales
you don't understand the power hearns right hand had in it. one time when hearns was on the ropes he landed the right hand, and this punch moved hagler's head about a foot to the left, and his chin was buried, mind you.. no punch in the castillo/corrales bout was that hard. he kept comin like a monster. that punch broke hearns right hand

lb4lb.....Corrales is a harder hitter than Hagler was.
Before you argue, SlipX.....I am probably the biggest Hagler fan in history.
He was a very good puncher.....but was more of a sharp-shooter who used accuracy & well-placed/thrown combos to damage his foes.
Certainly Hagler is a far superior fighter....but Corrales is a major-league puncher, one of the hardest punchers I've seen in the lower weight classes.
As for Hearns....well, aren't too many fighters in history with his power.
