Oh yeah, I talked about this after the fight.

His main problem imo is he has virtually no inside game. He fights good from a distance but as soon as brewer got close he'd go into shell mode and doesn't throw any punches.

Shadows also made a good point that while his defense is good he always goes straight back, and not side to side.

Additionally he doesn't really throw body punches.

He needs some more work b4 going up in class. I think the brewer fight showed that he is a bit limited in certain areas and he's just not ready for the big names.

At one point I thought he might be better than Gamboa or Rigondeaux, as far as pro fighting goes, but that's not the case at all. While flawed, Gamboa has a huge offensive arsenal. Rigondeaux, from what we've seen, mixes it up very nicely.

He should get more adept with getting on his toes, but what is more important is that he has to be able to move sideways.
no, its not sorta like carl froch. lara's skills are real.
i'll bet he's faced just about every single style imaginable in the amateurs.
he can move sideways. he knows how to cut off the ring and create angles.

I watched Lara's fight with Brewer and Erislandy put on a great performance, but where was his inside game?

When Lara has you at a distance he'll throw nice combinations, but sometimes he doesn't turn his left hand over like he's supposed to.When the opposing boxer gets on the inside,Lara just covers up and lets the other guy T-Off.

After a while Erislandy finally starts to throw again(once the other man breaks/takes his foot off the pedal)yes they only hit Lara's glove, but aggressiveness will land you points on the scorecards.

All I'm saying is when Lara has to fight on the inside instead of covering up Muff Style,he should throw some upper cuts, body shots and give his opponent lateral movement so their unable to T-Off

Anyways how did you rate Lara's fight with Brewer?

I Give it a 7 out of 10,because there's still room for improvement my dudez, and Lara hasn't reached his peak imho
          gd to know about this

while i agree to an extent, he was in there with a decent and experienced fighter in only his 10th professional fight.

im glad he got caught with a couple flush punches, also on that i feel the only reason he got buzzed is because he really hasnt been hit flush yet.

Lara will be the future of 154, guranteed. his skiils and ability to adjust is amazing. i gurantee you when he fights a top ten fighter which i imagine will be in his next few fights, he will look like a million dollars.

i also think him "shelling up" was a bit exaggerated, he only did that once for any extended period of time.

also, his ability to time and control the distance is also one of his bet attributes. as it is for alot of cuban fighters. i give him a out of 10 for the performance. if he was constantly getting caught i would be worried, but hes still developing. so therefor he foguth the perfect fight in my opinion.

by his 15th fight i dont see anybody in the division currently, beating him. not porter, williams, dzinzurik, martinez etc..none of em'. trust me when this kid matures hes going to be extremely difficult to beat for anybody.

Just my two cents on erislandy lara.

If Williams fights intelligently he would be unbeatable at 147 or 154, but it would be a toss up with him and Lara fighting in 2 years, because he isn't growing as a professional, in terms of technique and defense.

I see Kirkland and Angulo causing Lara problems, I don't think Lara can handle heavy pressure fighters who will trade on the inside with him. I think a good test for Lara is Cintron though, before he gets put on the main stage.
