Erislandy Lara Has to make some improvements

I know he's still getting experience in at the professional ranks. But Lara's trainer's need to fix up a few things.

I watched Lara's fight with Brewer and Erislandy put on a great performance, but where was his inside game?

When Lara has you at a distance he'll throw nice combinations, but sometimes he doesn't turn his left hand over like he's supposed to.When the opposing boxer gets on the inside,Lara just covers up and lets the other guy T-Off.

After a while Erislandy finally starts to throw again(once the other man breaks/takes his foot off the pedal)yes they only hit Lara's glove, but aggressiveness will land you points on the scorecards.

All I'm saying is when Lara has to fight on the inside instead of covering up Muff Style,he should throw some upper cuts, body shots and give his opponent lateral movement so their unable to T-Off

Anyways how did you rate Lara's fight with Brewer?

I Give it a 7 out of 10,because there's still room for improvement my dudez, and Lara hasn't reached his peak imho

Lara recovers very well. Grady touched the chin and had him on shaky legs for a while. I agree though, his inside game is bad.

Lara is a big and strong guy, always looks like he is charged for that cross, however it is not just his inside game that is looking for improvement. His whole style of sticking his front hand into opponent's face is looking to get countered against first speedy counterpuncher he faces. His footwork also looks suboptimal, I understand he ain't a dancing type of a fighter, but he looked a bit tad too slow for the elites.

he can fight on the inside. he can throw short, precise shots on the inside and knows how to work the body, but for whatever reason he chose to cover up and stay in his shell for extended periods.
i think he needs a better trainer who can teach him how to better transition from defense to offense. maybe a more offensive minded trainer like joe goosen.
goosen's good at getting fighters from point A to point B.

i had him winning 8 out of the 10 rounds. pretty good vs a tough cagey guy like brewer, but i still would give him a 7.

he's definitely not a mover but i think his footwork is one of his better assets. he makes subtle moves with his feet to generate angles and he's ALWAYS on balance.

All these subtle moves won't be enough when he faces a guy who will make him work. It's sorta like with Carl Froch, his fans were defending his style, mentioning his "subtle" skills and feeling of the distance, but once he fought guys who could move and punch on outside he looked terrible. He should get more adept with getting on his toes, but what is more important is that he has to be able to move sideways.
