Especially if you are from another country. The numbers are all that matters sometimes it seems.

I mean lets face it and remember what this fight was for. The man should have been ranked near the top for years but he wasnt. This fight was going to be the fight that was going to launch him into the type of fighters that demand million+ dollar pay. He was gonna move on to bigger things. As has been often the case in his career, Castillo couldnt seem to catch a break.

I hope he dusts himself off and comes back where he left off, but realistically speaking, this loss is heavily demoralizing, and damaging to his career. Castillo is 31, he has been a blood and guts warrior since he started. He has never gotten credit for much of his great work in the sport of Boxing. Most people didnt even know he existed till he was robbed against Mayweather. In 2004 he gave us another thrilling war against Lazcano and till this day the man was hardly known except to us hardcore boxing fans.

Time will pass, and Castillo's record has victories over dangerous tough men that never got their due... and thus his victories over them will never give him his due.

    People will forget:

    1) that first L against Mayweather should have been a W
    2) How tough Lazcano really was and how he was dismantled
    3) How good Cesar Bazan win was
    4) How the fight against Chico had so many variables, it seemed like it could have gone the other way if it had just been 2 men in there.

Thats just the way it is... and posters like Iwatchboxing many years from now will look at the record and say... 7 losses that fighter wasnt worth a damn.. look he got tkoed etc.

demoralizing. where are you coming from? FOTY fight!!he won even tho he lost against corrales. the loosers of the future combos of barrera , morales, pacman, corrales and others will have to deal with him. his stock should go up.

the notoriaties of the first barrera/morales and the gatti/ward contender for the foty fights made these guys known to the the lightweight klitchco and tyson (hes going to beat lewis) fans. getting more fans equals more fights and bigger money. i can only see positive things in his carrier. he needs a well deserved rest... i hope his jaw didnt get broken.

No one will forget that guy.(Castillo) Seriously it stuns me to hear real boxing fans even speculate that he could be forgotten after waging a war like he did along with his body of work before the fight.

I mean, Esteban Dejesus and Alfredo Escalera are two examples of guys who only enjoyed the very heights of boxing for a moment yet they both are remembered as tough as nails foils for Arguello and Duran.

Hell, both Arguello and Duran maintained lifelong friendships with them and respected them very much.

Castillo and Johnson, are both tough rugged warriors, that dont have the flashy styles and dont trash talk,so they probably aren't as appealing to the shall I say "Softcore" boxing fan,as a arrogant flashy fighter like Mayweather Jr would be.
First off,Glenn Johnson sucks, sorry, but its true, secondly.man the "softcore", or casual boxing fan isnt going to like mayweather, casual fans think gatti is the best thing since sliced bread, hardcore boxing fans like maywether for what he does in the ring, regardless of how unexciting most of his fights are.d00d.

I thought castillo was great he has a new fan in me, what a chin he has. Man I just kept waiting for lampey to say what a great, great fight but then I remembered it was on showtime. I can't wait to see a rematch Chico used all the tricks in the book to try and buy time for himself. Castillo can still brag that he never went down though, even though he hurt on the ropes. I kindof wish there had been a standing 8 count because I think both men being dazed Castillo would have fought through it.

Morales vs Barrera was at the middle of their careers and even after such and epic war, both guys werent really known till considerably later. Erik still couldnt sell a PPV (took many years for him to be able to), and Marco still cant sell one.

Gatti And Ward both speak English, Gatti had been known forever. These days people know Gatti really isnt that good just that he is going to go to war. If you dont fight Gatti oh well no one says you are ducking him.

Castillo, is at the tail end, he has already accomplished enough to be recognized passed Gatti yet he isnt. Castillo will continue to get paid under 1 million for his fights.

Castillo got a solid chin, but personally I don't like his style (that "inside" style that looks like clinching. The reason people don't give him credit is because plainly, and sorry Castillo fans, they don't like him. Morales and Barrera have fans because they're exciting and they are elite fighters. Same wit Gatti despite havin a only good record. Pac appeals to all kind of fans because they love watchin him. I mean, Pac's 1st debut to PPV and he made history sellin 350,000 PPv buys. The biggest in lower division history so far.

Castillo hasn't won many great and difficult fights. His record stinks. His style doesn't appeal to all type of boxing fans. He can't get a win over top opponents. All he can and fans of him can brag about is his chin and his heart, but skill wise, I dunno!

I don't know I think this fight elevated he way above 1 million, I'm sure they both will have to get paid alot to get back in the ring and **** each other, the only huge difference I can see between gatt v. ward is that these men were fighting for a belt and still put it all on the line. The more I watch the fight I think Castillo should have taken a knee but he was really hurt and out of it so I guess thats the way it goes.

I don't think mayeather is all that popular but it does suck that boxing isn't like other sports where you are more likely to get paid based on your skill as opposed to getting paid based on how many people watch you fight.
