Does Castillo get the fame that he never had before last night?

Do you think this fight got him tons of fans? and bring his name up for that performance of his??

I always felt he is very underrated but last night put one of the greatest fights of all time...

I cant actually think of a fight that was better...

I never saw Hagler-Hearns and Pryor-Arguello live so its hard to tell...

Yeah right like THAT means anything anymore. Ruiz never ducked anyone and challenged everyone. He has solid chin and great record and look he still doesn't get the fame he deserved.

Frankly no, he was on the loosing end of the final result of the fight and as is often the case when you've always been on the short end of the stick and you loose no matter how great a performance it was... you are forgotten. Especially if you are from another country. The numbers are all that matters sometimes it seems.

I mean lets face it and remember what this fight was for. The man should have been ranked near the top for years but he wasnt. This fight was going to be the fight that was going to launch him into the type of fighters that demand million+ dollar pay. He was gonna move on to bigger things. As has been often the case in his career, Castillo couldnt seem to catch a break.

I hope he dusts himself off and comes back where he left off, but realistically speaking, this loss is heavily demoralizing, and damaging to his career. Castillo is 31, he has been a blood and guts warrior since he started. He has never gotten credit for much of his great work in the sport of Boxing. Most people didnt even know he existed till he was robbed against Mayweather. In 2004 he gave us another thrilling war against Lazcano and till this day the man was hardly known except to us hardcore boxing fans.

Time will pass, and Castillo's record has victories over dangerous tough men that never got their due... and thus his victories over them will never give him his due.

            People will forget:

            1) that first L against Mayweather should have been a W
            2) How tough Lazcano really was and how he was dismantled
            3) How good Cesar Bazan win was
            4) How the fight against Chico had so many variables, it seemed like it could have gone the other way if it had just been 2 men in there.

Thats just the way it is... and posters like Iwatchboxing many years from now will look at the record and say... 7 losses that fighter wasnt worth a damn.. look he got tkoed etc.

Well true fighters come back after a loss like Ruiz did. That's the recognition you get and when you can say you are a two time champ.

I'd give recognition for the simple fact that he was on the verge of capturing another lightweight title, almost destroying the vaunted Diego Corrales on the way. The fight could have gone either way,,,One or two seconds more and Corrales could have missed the 8-count and lost. Castillo deserves a rematch.

Awesome post man. Hopefully Castillo can rebound and get the credit he rightfully deserves. Sad thing is that you can't always tell the size of a man's heart by his record.

Even if he beat Corrales,I dont think he would have even gotten enough credit or "Fame" for it.Look at Glen Johnson after he beat both Jones and Tarver in a span of three months.I heard more stuff about Jones being a dead fighter, and how controversial the decision against Tarver was, than I heard people actually giving Glen Johnson the respect and credit that he earned.

Castillo and Johnson, are both tough rugged warriors, that dont have the flashy styles and dont trash talk,so they probably aren't as appealing to the shall I say "Softcore" boxing fan,as a arrogant flashy fighter like Mayweather Jr would be.
