He should have done that when this division was really smoking hot. But who is this fight fan to complain. The division is still great. Just think if Marg and Cotto was in their prime here and that would have been super.

The only other credible fighters at that time at 154 were Vernon Forrest and Corey Spinks.

Oscar honestly was the best 154lber at the time aside from Forrest. Spinks coming off of the close desicion win off Karmazin, floyd was about to fight spinks for a 154lb title and then it was called off when the public basically rejected it.

Oscar really was likely the top 154lber especially since Shane decided to move back to 147 after the vargas fight.

      Care to argue otherwise?

so since he beat the legitimately best 154lber then that officially made him a legitimate 154lber then correct??? He should have been fighting 154lbers at 154. Not 140 and 135lbers at 147.

I think it would have been a waste of time. The only lucrative fight for him at 154 was Forrest and with Ricky Hatton looming insulting him on national tv during the castillo fight, i dont even know why you would bring this up.

What point are you trying to prove? At this point, Mayweather is fighting the number 1 welterweight, who actually campaigned for nearly 7 years at 154, so in reality, floyd is fighting a full fledged 154lber who can make 147. So check this:

Vernon Forrest would have been 37 if floyd would have fought him at 154, Mosley is 38 or 39 now. Its basically one or the other. YOU automatically get what you are asking for at 147, a division mosley is also comfortable in. Keep in mind, Mosley has victories at 154 over oscar and vargas as well as 147 margarito, who also had a fight at 154.

You are getting youre wish. Get over it.

I can't believe he did not ask for a catchweight like the ATG that fights only the same style of fighters since the Marquez fight.

agreed, this is a stepping stone. This is also a measuring stick to see how good floyd really is. Something tells me that he has a chance to come out victorious but beaten at the same time in this next fight.

He is definitely gonna have his running game on with Shane, no exchanges at all. BUT Shane has been proven to have trouble when his opposition has quicker faster hands and catch him off guard.
