Shane Mosley: I keep probably about $15 million, it's pretty good.

Compare this event to Manny's card.
Ortiz-Campbell I'm not too excited about.

Alvarez making his debut I'm excited for.

I wish they'd put Marquez-Khan on the card.

That would destroy Pac-Clottey PPV wise.

      The guy lives in Brooklyn.

So... unless he moves back to Ghana, it's still not much considered.

I was thinking of all that visa stuff about his coach and figured he still lived in Ghana too, my bad.

In fairness though, Clottey called it an 'unbelievable' shot at Pacquiao and it's $500k more than he was probably going to get for his next fight, plus he'll be in demand if he conquers the beast that is Pac.

They can make more money by having Marquez vs. Khan fight two weeks later, instead of the undercard in the Mayweather fight. They can get your $60 for the Mayweather fight and $40-50 for the Marquez fight.

The Mayweather fight would have to cost close to $100 to cover the cost of having Marquez vs. Khan on the same night.

$1 million and buys, but he still needs to pay Arum, the IRS, management, lawyers, trainer, etc.

One million is not a lot after taxes and the guy lives in New York.

I got people on my other thread saying they'd happily pay $100 for the fight.... and that's without Marquez-Khan on the undercard.

I don't think that's a valid reason since Marquez-Khan is probably free HBO anyway. I'm not seeing it do well financially PPV wise especially 2 weeks after May-Mosley PPV.

They put Marquez-Khan on the undercard of May-Mosley and you might have a record breaker.

Too bad boxing doesn't stack its cards anymore.

              Mayweather will do well regardless...

              2.44M w/ De La Hoya
              925K U.S. and 1.4M U.K. w/ Hatton
              1.1M w/ Marquez

              Prediction
              1.5-1.75M w/ Mosley

How many people can afford to pay $100 in a recession for a boxing fight? They would get more buys if people pay $60 instead of $100.

JMM, Khan, Mosley, and Mayweather are not going to take paycuts to have JMM vs. Khan on the undercard. I want JMM vs. Khan on the undercard, but having them on the undercard makes no sense when it comes to business.

Everyone involved makes more money if they fight later in May.

It's apparent in my other thread that this fight is already too good to pass up even if it's $80-100 range.

Weren't you arguing that no way does this fight do less than 1.7 million PPV buys even in that kind of scenario?

It doesn't make much business sense to put that fight on PPV only 2 weeks after Mayweather-Mosley.

That's way too close to a blockbuster PPV.

I predict it would do very poor numbers if in fact they do put it on PPV.

It's free HBO material so why not put it on May-Mosley undercard and pay both JMM and Amir Khan a flat rate?

This is Khan's first fight on U.S. soil so he doesn't deserve any big purse percentage while they're just testing him in the American market.

I've said it before, Greed is holding Boxing back from becoming mainstream again.

All GBP has to do is put that fight on the undercard and they'd have a potential record breaking PPV which would make all the fighters on the card look good as well as net them all a **** ton of cash.

Even if the fight does 200-350K buys, they still make more money by having them on PPV two weeks later.
