dont get me wrong i loved lewis but he wasnt too smart when he decided to take a small role in oceans 11, which meant he missed training; which led him to being knocked out by that nevershouldhavebeen rahman.

imo Ali has to be smartest overall fighter. inside his tactics were almost all the time spot on and outside the ring his manner was just as good.he often used his words to beat his opponent even before they steped into the ring.

To be a good or even great fighter you don't necessarily have to have ring smarts, you don't have to be a fighter who is willing to analyze and adjust during a fight. I think one of the smartest fighters in the game right now is Bernard Hopkins. He capitalizes off what he can do in the beginning of the fight, and then in the middle to the end of the fight he capitalizes off what his opponents can't do, and he figures what they can't by analyzing them and their style in the beginning of the fight.

Exaxctly, the smartest fighter in boxing is Bernard Hopkins. Like Jack said he is always thinking in the ring and analyzing his opponents.

Ruiz is the smartest by far. He called Quietman for a reason, because he lets the other dumbasses talk **** while he plans their destruction. That's why he's 2-time HW champ and defeated all HOF fighters for his belt. He took his weakness and used tactics to win against the best. He's a real champ.

smartest has to be roy jones jr. Look how much money he has made without taking that much of a risk in his boxing career.

^^^Just what i was thinking, ALi used tactics that challanged the opponent mentally, and through his shots and "Helpless" acts.
