Well there must be a reason why he would turn down a million then, Maybe he has the Haye rematch in mind.

He would not get any more than 400-500k and that is with everyone's hand in his purse for the rematch.

Valuev is just delusional about his ratings, you guys got to understand that barely any russian channels were buying him.

Depends what Vitali would likely take away given the venue.

1m may be okish, but the Klit's are a bit chumpish in negotiations sometimes. Oh I'm the champ, suck my balls, mah mah mah...

I'm normally anti-greedy athletes, but especially if this fight goes down in Germany, Valuev is worth a lot more than $1 million, easily twice that for the number of tickets this thing will sell..........

Don't see anything greedy about Vitali. He is just negotiating. He is the one willing to put his title on the line against Valuev who may be marketable still but Vitali is taking all the risk.

As far as the person who said Vitali backed out of negotiations before. That's bull. That makes a lot of sense logically(sarcasm). Vitali backed out of negotiations recently when Valuev had a belt and when he said he would fight him, but now that Valuev has no belt he is more than willing to fight him? Makes no sense because it's not true. The truth is Don King didn't want to lose his fighter but now that he has no belt there's nothing to lose and why not see how much money he can get it's part of the negotiation process. I personally don't think Valuev should be too greedy though. He's not the champ. Vitali is taking the risk, and how much money could Valuev get fighting anyone else? Most likely nowhere near a mil...

I heard someone say Vitali should fight a worthy opponent. This is a voluntary defense. He's been fighting once every three months. Most champions in the past have fought once a year. So if he wants to fight 3 voluntary matches -- I dont care if they truly are not the best in the division-- it's better in my opinion than fighitng once a year only. Plus Valuev isnt that bad- he was champion after all up until recently and many have argued that he won the last fight against Haye and would be a good match to watch imo(just for the size factor alone). I noticed names like Povetkin were tossed around.. Well Povetkin is up to fight Wladimir next after Wlad fights Chambers. I'm sure that could be a factor in Vitali not fighting him..

Carl Williams got a million for fighting Tyson in July of 89, but Tyson had all the american fans. If Valuev won't take it, then let him earn his title shot, Klitschko should take on Povetkin.

I agree. Valuev and his team know what might happen when he steps into the ring with the puncher of his size... And it is pretty fair that he wants more than 1 million. He is way bigger draw than Johnson (who is said to earn 1 million fighting Vitali). Like him or not lots of people would turn on the TV to watch this giant get knocked out. But people don`t believe much that his previous opponents were capable of doing it. But (even Americans, who remember the Lewis fight) they might think that Vitali IS good enough to do that. So if they ever step to the ring together that fight would draw incredible audience (anywhere). Though the fight itself might be quite ugly
