Floyd did start his boxing career at 106 pounds. Floyd won the National Golden Gloves Championship at 106 lbs. in 1993. He was 84-6 as an amateur. He won the bronze in Atlanta in 1996 at 125 lbs.

I just read he helds the record for 7... damn... that I really missed him... I'm German and mostly saw only best of's of the game... SuperBowl was shown live here and a game or two every week... so probably this explains it... He hasn't fought a real challenge IMO since the Corrales fight. That's the last fight I can say I went into watching with intrigue. The fighters from then on he's fought haven't been bums whatsoever, but they haven't really been the most challenging fights he could take. Did he make good business decisions, Absolutely.

And yea, Floyd is looked at as one of the best 130lb fighters of all time, but that was also quite a long time ago. Floyd's been a WW since 2004...we're in 2010 now

33 isn't that old for most of the elite fighters but you gotta believe he is closer to the end of his prime than anything else. He can still be one of the best fighters for another couple years though. Mosley and BHOP are different athletes that have found the fountain of youth.
