Kinda like how Roy Jones had all that experience going into the bernard hopkins fight, whereas hopkins never seen the big flashy lights before whereas jones was an Olympian and fought on a bigger stage at that point.

I think John is awkward though and we haven't seen Gamboa against a guy who is both really skilled and awkward at the same time, so there is a bit of an unknown there.
I respect your opinion, but I had to learn the hard way not to bet against John for the aforementioned statements made prior.

On the flip side, Olympic boxing and Pro-boxing can be argued as different animals and even though Gamboa has 400 fights under his belt the big stage is another level. I’m not ruling out the possibility of a good win for Gamboa, I’m just saying John has seen (and tasted) power before only to rely on his skill and experience to prevail.

I think John would win the first 6 rounds.. Then I can see Gamboa coming on strong and finishing John..

But if John can survive I think he can pull out a UD

I think fighting for a gold medal vs fighiting chris john in america (which is where it would most likely be) is a bit of a bigger stage, I mean you're representing your country and the whole world is watching. If it were in Indonesia, which I doubt arum would have gamboa fight there, it would be a different story...

I know it's totally different ballgame, and the power is not the same, but as far as experience on a big stage goes, gamboa has a lot of experience there, albeit not in the pros.

I'm just saying when thinking about this potential fight, that is one my least concerns with gamboa. John's skills and awkwardness are the real problems for gamboa, imo.

As for John, I'm not so sure he's ever fought anyone as fast and naturally athletic as Gamboa, and to me, and maybe I'm wrong here, but John seems to be a bit on the downside of his career.

Seems to me most everybody is looking at how good he looked and not considering the level of competition. These threads could be about Valero or Chavez Jr. as well.

I would say John with his experience but I think he is past his prime and after the way he looked in the Juarez rematch, I think Gamboa's speed and youth would overpower him and he would get ko'd around the 9th or 10th
