If you lost time and money dealing with a guy who pulled out twice in the middle of training camp youd want money upfront and a better split too no?
Not at the sake of losing a shot at the titles. Isnt that the real point of a title shot? Its what a boxing career is all about. Possibly get the titles then your the champ and as a bonus you can get bigger $$ than your opponents.

Williams has other options. Martinez is lifting those belts of Kelly anyway.

        Martinez-Willams 2 for the 160 Pound Championship.

        Everyones happy.

HBO has a trend of failure hasn't they? Overpaying for less than stellar cards such as Dawson and others. You probably know better than me.

              Yeah your right.

They turned down Clottey-Williams and want absolutely NOTHING to do with Pavlik-Martinez.

People who think this should be 50-50 just like Williams and don't like Pavlik.

                They aren't using common sense.

This same issue will be the reason that Mayweather-Mosely doesn't happen as Mosley is the Welterweight Champ, has the belt and Mayweather will demand more than half or he will walk. Mosley will not fight for his own title for a minority share of the purse.

                  No...

Williams hasn't proven he can put asses in seats, Pavlik already has several times. Even if the fight isn't in Atlantic City or Ohio, Pavlik has fans that will travel to see him fight, not so much Williams.

I say 65-35 in Pav's favor. Plus...he IS the Middleweight Champ of the World. Off GP you're not getting 50/50.

I really don't care either way or the other. Williams has more leverage with HBO and has fought and beat better fighters but Pavlik is the champ and maybe bigger draw. But it's up to the fighters to work it out, not us. That's why this thread is pointless.

Both Williams and PAvlik can sell tiackets and bring in the crowds. I do think that a 50/50 split is very fair. Yes, Pavlik is the champion but Williams has been doing his thing for last 3 years and he has looked good in his fights. The martinez figth was very close, but I thought 'The Punisher' won. Lets get this fight on
