Surprised Berto Pulled Out...

Describe to me EXACTLY - with words - how that is a clueless suggestion.
The man's countrymen and family were devestated by a natural disaster, and in turn he pulls out from his scheduled fight. Obvious decision, but how can you deny the benefits of going through with the fight. Winning or losing is not a concern of his at the moment, obviously, so it's not as if he's afraid of going forward for lack of focus or time in training. It offers him a WORLDWIDE stage from which he can raise awareness for relief efforts in Haiti and at the same time make a **** load of money which could be utilized by the red cross, or his own personal relief efforts.
Argue that honestly.Comment

Look, your overall idea sounds good in theory. But the magnitude of his current situation is waaaaayyy beyond your comprehension as well as mine.Describe to me EXACTLY - with words - how that is a clueless suggestion.

If the dude is unable to train properly due to mental/physical/emotional exhaustion, then let him be. It would only be a bad idea and a serious risk to his health if he were to fight SSM while not undergoing proper training.
I really don't wanna argue point for point w/ you b/c that would be a waste of energy. Just take his decision for what it is....Comment

This thread is what's wrong with boxingscene.com
I'm proposing a theoretical scenario meant only for speculation and reflection - but INSTEAD it is interpreted as some kind of attack on Berto, and everyone rushes to his defense and gets hostile.
Try having an intelligent conversation for once without constantly trying to take sides and toe a line in the dirt. This isn't ****ing elementary school. Grow up, everyone.Comment

People handle the death of someone close to them differently....Some people use it as a motivation to perform better while some can't think or act straight because of the loss....Berto is part of the 2nd group....Comment

What happened to the saying "the show must go on"? Buster Douglas fought the fight of his life and beat Mike Tyson after his mom died. He too was in training for the fight when his mom died. I don't care if 20 of my family members die, my moms death would be 100 times worse. No big deal though, Berto was going to lose that fight anyway.Comment
