why is it that one person ducked the other? i dont see it that way.. i see it as a disagreement on both sides.. Get over it people.. Floyd didnt want the match right now neither did Pac.. move the **** on.. Granted its a fight everyone wants to see but look on the bright side in stead of 1 great fight we just got 2 great fights.. maybe even 3 if Cotto can pull of a fight with Berto.. i think this senario is gonna work out great for the welterweight division.. you dont know it yet but this might set up like the middleweight tourney.. except we have all the fighters we love to watch in the welterweight division.. Hopefully the floyd vs shane fight gets done...

WHile I, just coming back to boxing from the 80s and early 90s since boxing "died"...I am only enticed again to watch because of the Pacquiao and Mayweather possibility and regain the old glory of boxing.

My remarks of Mayweather "ducking" good opponents is a purist remarks on pugilism not business. I don't care much for the business of boxing though important. To me, I am cut from the old school boxing type....I just want to see good boxers who fight. Period.

Like I said, I have long admired Mayweather's unprecented mastery of defense and thus I would like him to fight a seemingly "wild" and "caveman" like boxing of Pacquiao. The fine art of pugilism by Mayweather vs the bombastic and dynamism of a Tazmanian Devil in Pacquiao....

But there is some validity that Mayweather is very selective of his past opponents. THat is why I am crowing, not against him but I would love to his skills tested to the utmost. Unfortunately his motivations are about business and money only. Whether that is true to the core or just an alibi, he is a force to be reckoned with.

Yes I am a Filipino-American but doesn't I am a "*******" or "pacfart" as most love flinging around here *******ly. Like I have said already, I love to watch boxing and nothing more.

I do have some background in the FMA and JKD and thus continuing the art of fighting till now. And there's nothing that would whet my appetite than to see contrasting styles pitted against each other.

Hope that Mayweather would win against Mosley, while Pacquiao would hopefully win against Clottey towards the inevitable: Fight for the ages.

But anything can happen along the way, such is life.
So you are in fact admitting you are ingnorant to the current events of the sport by making this statement my friend. There is no shame in being ignorant to a subject. You have good boxing back round since you sounds like you know a GOOD FIGHT when you see one but alot has happened since the 80's and the 90's. Most boxers of the past great or not have ended up BROKE after years of punishment to their bodies and brains. GO watch a movie I suggest for you it is called "Resurrecting the Champ" made in 2007 starrign Samuel L Jackson.....Read the books on Joe Luis and take a good look at Muhammad Ali..Yes we all want to see fighers fight the best and that word ALL includes me but you need to recongnize a good business move when you see one...Lefty

I agree with you and if you not you personally cuase I know you did. But if you all read my original post to this thread I never claimed anyone ducked anyone. I have often pointed out on my show that there was not enough time to get this fight done and promoted properly. That all the circus act was a prelude to the climax when they get in the ring later this year. My best memories of those great fights between Ali and Frazier was the prefight ruckus. Ali punching the gorilla in his hand and saying his poems. Frazier screaming you aint fighting no bum you fighting JOE FRAZIER!!!!....Boxing needs that to get people interested again and like it or not all this circus act surrounding this fight has got people talking not just hardcore fans but the averagepublic...Lefty

You guys make it seem that PBF predicted the earthquake that will lead to the Mosley fight. lol!

We should all just wait until the fight is signed. Not a done deal yet.

Sorry Lefty, I have to disagree.

            1. There wasn't a big public demand for Pac/JMMIII, hell even on boxing sites it was pretty meh. I think Floyd's intention was to make Pac look bad by clearly beating JMM but I think he's actually worse off for taking on the fight because people realized it was a miss match...a boring one at that.

            2. The drug testing backfired on Floyd. You know he started it to get into Pac's head and he had to stick to his demands or lose face. The whole "cleaning up boxing" isn't nearly as main stream as the boxing community think. On regular news forums people thought Pac wasn't doing ANY tests (urine or blood) and considering no other sports adhere to Olympic standard, people recognize the difference.

Sure its damaged Pac's reputation a bit but still its about 50/50, not alot of gain considering he's getting sued now and it botched the fight. May will not earn 1/2 of that fight with anyone else right now.

            3. Floyd lucked out with the Haiti earthquake (perhaps the only guy benefiting from that disaster) as he now has the opportunity to one-up Pac in terms of recovering from their botched fight...if he signs the fight.

i wasnt saying you.. but i notice people posting saying Mayweather ducked pac.. or Pac ducked mayweather.. its ******.. im just saying it did kinda work out great.. nothing againts you my friend.. but yes.. i did see the recording of the pre fight ruckus with Ali and Frazier... lol.. and to tell you the truth Mayweather is the same way.. he's good at talking trash and getting into peoples head.. is it as stylish as Ali.? Not even close.. but he does play a great villian.. he feeds off of it and thats what makes his fights interesting.. love him or hate him, Money May is a great charachter for boxing.. no matter how arrogant he may come out at times..

The TS made some interesting points but some are somewhat absurd.

If we come up with a conclusion based on the TS's arguments, we can say that Floyd really cherry picks his opponent that he could make those who have threat with his "0" look bad.

Majority of fight fans have already seen his schemes, I mean Pac may not have a say on all things coz he's letting Arum and Roach do the talking which in some point making pac look bad but the guy gives the fan what they came for.

Mosley vs Mayweather, if it happens, maybe a good fight but boxing since Pac's successes are actually encouraging none boxing fans to watch, coz they know they'll get their money's worth.

I mean let's be honest now, there are fans who watched Floyd's fight live are feeling and thinking they felt they were robbed. The good thing about Floyd is he knows how to market himself.

Being "ignorant" may not be the word my friend...that's too harsh. If anything, being "acclimated" again. But I am not ignorant of Mayweather and Pacquiao as both are the main boxers of our times now...

Just saw FACING ALI and it rekindled some of the old glory I have long sought. Bert Sugar is the lone guy I really look up to in knowing just about everything and anything in boxing annals.

And if the Mayweather and Pacquiao would fight later this year (perhaps by Sept - Nov) then we would witness another "fight for the ages"...

But thanks for your tips (book and movie) and making my way of learning this site.

You have a good point of view and this is why I post these types of threads to get some logical debate in here. But the parts of your post I bolded I am going to answer here.

There was enough of a demand and history to make a viable match up between himself and JMM and putting it in a Dallas setting where there are alot of Mexican fans. I think it would have been a good option and a chip to use at the bargaining table.

The drug test backfired well it depends on how you look at it. Yes it caused the fight to fall through and Floyd may have missed out on a BIG payday for now. But he did gain leverage in the eys of the public and as I stated.

IF he signs the fight to me there is no other option and if this fight falls through then he will LOOK TERRIBLE.....HE CANNOT LET THE FIGHT WITH MOSLEY GO SOUR....Lefty

NO problem my friend ignorant is NOT a bad word. You seem like a intelligent poster just need to do research and brush up on your current events in boxing outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao...Lefty
