By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Let’s say you’re Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Compared to the average clock-puncher, you’re doing pretty well. You’ve reached the pinnacle of a difficult profession. You have more money than three generations of grandkids will spend. And you’ll more than likely be retired before your life is half complete.
If given the option, it’s a set-up most folks would take in a second.
Somehow, though, it seems a little unfulfilling.
From a distance, that is.
In spite of myriad title belts and inclusion near the top of every respected pound-for-pound list, the mere mention of Mayweather’s name elicits venom from fans across every demographic and from executives on the highest rungs of the boxing ladder.
And it’s not just the brainless “He’s a punk” or “He sucks” babbling from message-board cretins.
In this case, even the suits in corner offices join the pile-up, going so far as to allege cowardice and comparable psychological weakness in the interest of protecting an unbeaten record. [Click Here To Read More]
lol at the bold, sounds like a direct attack to boxingscene coming from a ***** writer
The Margarito fight played a role probably more mental than
physically because Cotto has been hit with bombs before and
persevered. Cotto looked bad against Clottey because he
didn't have a corner or proper training for the most part.
On top of that, who really looks good against Joshua Clottey?
he was never hit with bombs that had bricks in them, for 12 rounds..
cotto was winning that fight well, then sometime after the 6th the damage
started adding up, then margacheato took over.
im sure he had proper training for the clottey fight, and although he didnt have his corner he is a seasoned elite fighter....
and clottey is a solid fighter, i agree.
I'm not a Money-hater but I would be immensely impressed if he indeed signed to fight Mosley. The difference, in my opinion (with Mosley vs the others mentioned) is that Mosley will not come into the ring with the slightest "sparring partner" or "opponent" mentality that others might. Mosley will come at Mayweather with more detemination, skill and firepower; with every intention of winning. A fight with Mayweather is more important to Mosley than to Mayweather.
If they meet and Mosley wins, it may be a blessing in disguise for Mayweather. It would take some pressure off, give him more dtermination to continue to prove his greatness and finally he would have lost to someone who, presumably, he has more respect for than PacMan. Many great fighters became greater legends after their first loss.
pac-clottey will likely draw big crowd than chicken floyd-mosley. and i don't even believe a chicken floyd-mosley bout will happen. chicken floyd is still the same chicken floyd all the years.
chicken floyd will end up fighting soft-punching girlie paulie.
i agree, i dont see floyd actually fighting mosley
sorry *****s your boy floydie would never ever fight mosley. he is so scared of sugar shane. floydie can always find a way to avoid ssm. hes not even thinking of fighting shane. fraud/shane fight was just the product of schaefer's imagination. no matter how hard he try making this fight to happen, it wont happen. as far as fraud is concern hed rather fight paula malignaggy
"I know everyone is rushing to make this fight with Mosley, but I want people to know that Floyd feels awful for Berto and his family for what they and their country are going through," Ellerbe said. "That is first and foremost. But if, in fact, Shane Mosley is available, that's the fight that Floyd would love to make. It's no secret that Floyd has been trying to make a fight with Shane for the last 10 years.
UFC is already talking about moving their planned May 1 PPV if May vs Mosley happens on March 1......haha....i love it when boxing ****s on MMA's head......
haha!!! nice find checkhook!!! screw UFC!!! Those roided up ****s knows boxing owns their asses!!
