    How Can Anyone Blame Berto?

Put yourself on his shoes. The dude has family over there, he comes from Haiti. It has to be hard for him to focus on a fight with something like that on his mind.

Agreed. It's really easy for some of us to say stuff like he's scared but we would do the same if we were on his shoes. How could you focus on your biggest fight with a big name like Shane Mosley while your family is dead and no where to be found in Haiti? Think about it.

simple.. the ppl who blame him are very, very, very ignorant human beings.

according to these ppl its okey to pull out of a fight if u break your hand and cant punch with it but not if you go thru a personal crisis leaving you completely unable to fight.

their only attempt at an answer is saying margarito fought after his brother died, but ppl react diffrently to these things.

also tony found out like the day of the fight, it didnt have time to sink in. berto has been spending the last week and a half or so desperatly trying to get in contact with his family thinking all the worst things. at the same time hes had to be there for his parents and other family members in the states. this has taken over his life right now and theres no way he can just switch it of and get ready to box.

andre did the only right thing, if u cant see that go to hell.

you can't blame him at all .... he has family that has died ... and family that they still can't find ... he has to be with his family members and mourn their deaths ... how could we expect him to do anything else???? for those a$$holes that say he's scared, why would he sign the fight in the first place???

I'm totally on Berto's side here and I'm not even really a fan. I wanted Shane to KO him actually.

But it would've been bull**** if Andre went out there and tried his best, but he lost because he wasn't focused. I may not be a fan, but I respect the man and he should take all the time he needs to get this situation with his family under control. He just shouldn't be fighting a guy as dangerous as Shane without being 100% focused.

Now I just hope that Floyd guy steps up and shows some cajones

Boxing fans in general are unrealistic and are always coming up with ****** scenerios for boxers to live up to that are not only unreasonable but at times even dangerous.

Can you imagine a football fan saying "Tony Romo needs to play even if his family is dead thats what warriors do".

It's this exact culture in boxing that causes so many boxers to literally kill themselves in the ring for fear of being labeled a quitter.

Absolutely. That needs to change IMO, There is so much one man can take and no one should judge him for taking a step back and saying "Hey I just can't do it"

I think some people figure if these are distant relatives and therefore he is just using it as an excuse to pass up on the Mosley bout since it is an extra distraction to deal with on top of Mosley being the best fighter he will have faced to date.

The thing is since it was a disaster we have to give him the benefit of the doubt just like any other fighter who pulls out due to injury or other circumstances beyond their control.

benifit of the doubt? I don't think it should even be questioned!

Distant relatives or not thats not something that should even be factored in.

Look Berto doesn't owe fans ****!! No money has been paid to him for this fight. Fan's that have bought tickets will get a refund and shane now get's a shot at Floyd (even if it does sound unlikely) so back off the guy he can do whatever he wants just like anyother non athlete/regular person would.
