He needs to fulfill his obligation to Shane Mosley and the fans who want clarity in the WW division.

What obligation does Berto have to Shane and the fans?

Berto owes them Jack and **** especially if any everyday fan out there would themselves take time off from work if their family died in a disaster.

Then Berto shouldn't be a professional fighter.

He should box privately in his basement gym.

Not really comparing myself to him but, nobody in his immediate family has died. His sisters and their children are fine. It seems distant cousins are gone, yes it's a tragedy but, he shouldn't have waited such a long time to pull out of the fight. Now shane is kinda in no man's land, if the floyd fight doesn't come off, what is there to do? Plenty of athletes have gone on to perform during a death or a catastrophic event, Brett Favre played his best football when his father died. Marg fought the day his brother died and won. Pierre Garcon of the colts played after the catastrophy in haiti and he played damn well.I don't get the point of pulling out, there's nothing to be done for the dead( they're in a much better place now), they actually tell you just to send money and stay out of haiti. They aren't even properly burying the bodies now, they've turned to mass graves.

            Great post.

That is the general thrust of this thread.

It's a tough decision for Berto to leave, though it is a tough call to say that he is ducking Mosley for all we know. He can't just stand there and say 'I've to continue with this fight knowing a lot of my countrymen are suffering right now.' As for Favre and Margarito, they didn't have to worry about their fellow countrymen since they only lost someone very close to them. Sam Dalembert of the 76ers did what he could do to help while he's in the States, though it must have weighed on his mind that he wanted to go home too.

It is unpopular for Berto to quit, but for the moment, his countrymen needed him more. Let's leave it at that.

I knew this fight wasn't going down. It just makes no sense for Berto.

I always had a weird feeling about it too. Just in general terms. Something about it always felt incongruent to me.
