Hard to say, Calzaghe never fought anyone with a style similar to Jones so I cant really say. But I think that Jones would beat him

Joe was way past when they fought also, But Roy was way better in his prime. joe struggled with Robin reid, do you think Roy would have struggled? i think not.

I'm not sure, it would of been a closer fight than people think to be honest.

Watched that fight today actually, hadnt seen it in years. Good fight. Shows how good Joe's chin was he took some huge shots that were on the button from Reid like they were nothing. Could Jones have taken them like that? I think not......but i doubt he would land them on Jones.

And that was not a prime Calzaghe btw. He improved a fair bit after that fight, it was early in his career.

Joe relied too much on his own athleticism to beat a physical specimen such as Jones.

Roy would UD him in all likelyhood.

IF, the Joe of say 2003, fitter, towards the end ish of his prime, but more experienced, quick, and hands not totally buggered so able to throw some hard shots now and again fought a Roy that was taking him lightly, I'd give Joe a seriously good chance.

But there's too many if's in there, on the whole you'd have to favour Roy but just not as strongly as many once thought, and really a lot still fail to accept.

Growing up I always loved to watch Roy fight. He was tremendous. That being said, I never thought he fought anybody that could exploit his weaknesses. He relied heavily on his speed and at no time used a jab, and when he lost just a little bit of that speed he was doomed. Hell, Roy still has some of the quickest hands in boxing but now people are getting to him too easy, and Roy is unable to fend off guys like Danny Green. Joe, who beat Roy easily last year, was like Roy not in his prime. Joe had the speed, skills, and chin to always give Roy problems. I'm guessing that is why we never saw the fight earlier. Infact that last point was probably true for both sides. All we have to go on is what happened. Joe does not have to prove anything to anybody, he beat Roy period.
