Who should Vitali fight this spring?

Vitali Klitschko has time for a voluntary defense in early spring of 2010.

The word is that Austin and Solis will fight on March 20 to determine Vitali's next mandatory, whom he will likely fight in late summer or early fall.

Vitali said he will take a voluntary defense before that, in early spring. There have been talks with Valuev, but I'm not optimistic about it ever happening.

Who do you think he'll choose as the voluntary opponent? There's not many ranked contenders available: Valuev, Boytsov, Povetkin, and a couple of others. Who do you think he should fight?

There isn't much out there for the big man, but for sheer spectacle, Valuev.

Valuev, although he absolutely would not deserve that opportunity. Boytsov, however... Hmm, why not? Lately I've been gaining this sick pleasure of seeing the VitMan taking away the "0"s of all these undefeated contenders. :laff2:

      WAR Vitali, regardless. :box2:

        WBC rankings:

        1. Austin - fighting in eliminator
        2. Solis - fighting in eliminator
        3. Valuev
        4. Povetkin - probably will wait for Wlad
        5. Toney
        6. Quezada
        7. Peter - already beat him
        8. Boytsov
        9. Pianeta
        10. Rossy
        11. Adamek
        12. Banks - Klitschkos promote him
        13. Sosnowski - fighting Harrison
        14. JC Gomez - already beat him
        15. Thompson
        16. Aguilera

Available opponents in bold. Toney is too old and small, and Thompson is unlikely. Adamek is too small and Aguilera is too inexperienced.

That leaves Valuev, Boytsov, Quezada, Pianeta, and Rossy.

I don't want Boystov in there with Vitali at this stage.

          Valuev is the best choice

I'd rather see Povetkin and Boytsov fight each other before stepping in the ring with Vitali. But Povetkin seems like he wants no part of a Klitschko, and Boytsov is relatively untested as of yet. Can't really see the Valuev fight happening, and wouldn't really want to in any case. Tua might be an option.

Yes, of those five, Valuev is really the only good choice.

The others are either too inexperienced or, in the case of Rossy, simply not good enough to deserve a title shot.

Me too, but it looks like Tua is scheduled to fight Friday Ahunyana.
