As a fighter, I would say I would rather get hit by a Kostya Tszyu right. I can take a good shot and have never been seriously hurt in the ring, but the punches that hurt the most are the fast ones from weird angles you don't see.

Case in point, I was sparring another fighter at my gym who outweighs me by about 30 odd pounds, I can take his shots with no hassle and have even swapped punches with him toe to toe. He hits hard and his shots are heavy, but they never hurt me because they come slow and never hit me out of the blue leaving me wondering where the hell thye came from.

Then in my last fight, I fought a very good fighter in my weight division, a real skinny kid, and his shots were fast as hell and came from weird angles and distances, kind of like Pacman, and while my legs never left me and I didn't get a standing eight or a knockdown, his shots hurt way more and troubled me way more than the heavier fighters shots. Just so devastating getting hit from no where.

Good post man and 100% true.

This reminds me of guys like Mayorga and Margarito. People think they have crazy chins but in fact they actually have underrated defensive ability.

They both know how to roll with punches on their face on the moment of impact.

Mayorga did this against Forrest when he egged him on to hit him in the mid rounds of that second fight.

He knew the shots were coming and took the impact off them by rolling with them. But the normal fan thinks he's eating flush punches.
