Both are big punchers, but different types of punchers.
Maidana is a slower, clubbing kind of guy with heavy hands and thudding power, as opposed to Valero who is much quicker and more expolsive, like pistons shooting back and forth.
As to who is more devastating, Maidana is the bigger man, but Valero is faster and could hit you with shots you didn't see coming. Not sure.
Valero is like Naz to me. Neither one of those guys really looked like they punched hard. Im not talking about the way they looked but Im talking about when they threw a punch. It never looked that hard to me, even when it lands but the opponent always falls the **** out like theyve been shot so it must be legit. It also helps alot being a Southpaw to me

I agree neither of them have great form when punching but the results are quite devastating when they connect with even glancing blows. You don't get 19 KOs in the first round if your power isn't real regardless of your competition. I also think being southpaw is a considerable advantage because orthodox fighters just never experience that many of them and don't get accustomed to the different attack angles.
Darchinyan another awkward looking fighter can really spark out opponents once he lands that money punch but his overall technique is rather ugly looking as well.
That's what I am talking about, different sorts of power.
As a fighter, I would say I would rather get hit by a Kostya Tszyu right. I can take a good shot and have never been seriously hurt in the ring, but the punches that hurt the most are the fast ones from weird angles you don't see.
Case in point, I was sparring another fighter at my gym who outweighs me by about 30 odd pounds, I can take his shots with no hassle and have even swapped punches with him toe to toe. He hits hard and his shots are heavy, but they never hurt me because they come slow and never hit me out of the blue leaving me wondering where the hell thye came from.
Then in my last fight, I fought a very good fighter in my weight division, a real skinny kid, and his shots were fast as hell and came from weird angles and distances, kind of like Pacman, and while my legs never left me and I didn't get a standing eight or a knockdown, his shots hurt way more and troubled me way more than the heavier fighters shots. Just so devastating getting hit from no where.
