Well thats what i would like to know, I mean do you have to act or be obnoxious to be successful??? Do you have to go the Mayweather route to be known/famous etc

I dont know if these is the american way but i just dont get why some fighters dont get the recognition that others get.

I mean Nonito Donaire is filipino and a very good boxer who i think KNOWN how to box, He doesnt have the exciting Pacquiao style so he doesnt get the adulation that someone like Pac gets so that makes sense but american boxers on the other hand its the opposite.

Shane Mosley is successful...along with Evander Holyfield, Roy Jones Jr, Sugar Ray Leonard, and many others...

Well it takes time to build a fanbase...Paul Williams didn't headline his first real event until he fought Margarito in 2007...that was Paul's first title fight...only 2-3 years ago

Truth is the media in the US doesn't want to promote black fighters, they wants good ol boys like Kelly Pavlik. The only way a black fighter in the US can get boxing press is if he plays the *******, arrogant, heel. Look at RJJ, Ali, Floyd Mayweather Jr., B-Hop, and James Toney all ****ted on by the media, until they lost or got old. Hell even Vernon Forrest tried to play the bad guy in his fight with Sergio just to get ****ing press.

Now the real truth is the media in the US wants blacks to play the "good boy" role so they can easily cast them aside and tell them they'll get noticed one day, but not now. Look at Shane Mosley, Vernon Forrest, Winky Wright, and Paul Williams, add Chad Dawson as well. I wish Shane, Vernon, Winky, Paul, Chad Dawson, Andre Dirrell, and Andre Ward would realize playing the "good boy" won't do anything for their pockets and it won't do anything for their career. The days of SRL are over, the only way a black fighter will get any air time, press, and career advantage is to be an arrogant *******, atleast that way the media will cover them and want to push their fights in the hope they get beat into their "proper" place.
