I'm leaning ever so slightly towards Pavlik in this one.

I think that Martinez will probably win most of the early rounds, but Pavlik is a hard puncher and I think he'll start to land more as the fight progresses, leading to a late TKO.

Having said that, this is really a 50/50 fight and I'll probably change my pick about 5 times before it happens.
pavlik by late ko or stoppage

I don't think this will be a cakewalk for Martinez, but i think he'll win it. So many variables though. If pavlik does hit him, and he will at some point, how will Martinez take his power?

Will Pavlik only stand his ground and let martinez come to him, or will he foolishly follow Martinez around the ring and let Martinez spin him over and over again? Will he try to bully martinez?

Pavlik also had a very hard time landing solidly against McKart, the ONLY southpaw he has faced in years.

I am with you about the variables in this fight. Its a hard one to pick, but should be a really good fight if its made.

I'm not accusing Martinez of being opportunistic because Pavlik is the man at 160 and all, but Martinez must really see something in him that he can exploit because from what I understand he would've gotten more money for fighting Williams in a rematch. But this is a good fight too. I don't think we'll ever see Pavlik and Williams fight each other now because Arum hates Al Haymon like he now hates GBP.

It's brave move by team Pavlik.

Sergio seems to have this fight won on paper according to most people, and I include myself.
