Comments Thread For: Burgos Batters a Brave Martinez, Final Round Knockout

By Cliff Rold - 22-year old highly rated Featherweight contender Juan Carlos Burgos (24-0, 17 KO) of Mexico did nothing to harm his path to a title shot on Friday night at the Laredo Civic Center in Laredo, Texas, laying a steady beating onto journeyman fellow Mexican, 28-year old Juan Carlos Martinez (17-12-1, 7 KO), before applying the finishing touch to score a technical knockout in the twelfth and final round. Burgos looked OK.

They need to work on his workrate, stamina and intensity. Dude fights in slow motion and with no passion.

His punch sequence and distance are great.

    Dude looks like a comer!

Burgos isn't that good, I don't see much talent. Then again, I've only watched him once, which was today.

He looked good and like teddy was saying that he fights calm and collective he is not an agresive hound like other fighters. He breaks u down slowly and finish off in the end looks like a future champ and with that size and boxing skill be a problem for any one at the stacked feather weight division

          **** you talking about Platano?

Burgos got lots of talent. His power his decent(not good, but average), he uses his height and reach very well and his punch sequece is very good.

He aint the next DLH but he is decent and ill become a champion

I don't think so man, dude is slow all around. Become champion? Maybe against a weak title holder. Which top FW you see him beating?

Burgos is a FW version of Pavlik with better defense, and quite a bit less power. More skilled, overall. I like him.

                I can beat Burgos

Burgos is a tall Featherweight that is trained pretty well. He uses his height to his fullest advantage but in opinion he is really slow and needs much improvement before they start throwing his name around for big title shots. He is 5'9 picking off little guys. Honestly I believe I'd give him the business.
