I think he would more than make up for it if he still continues and becomes a superstar regardless if he chose not to continue in "one" fight he had.
There will always be ****** haters and Max Kellerman who will always mention the Maidana fight. But some of us who don't look at boxing like idiot children understand that sometimes your body just says no more and that's more important then being a warrior which in boxing case is just imaginary bull**** anyways.Comment

I see so because he felt his body was in danger beyond what was expected of a boxer to take he's a wimp?
No offense but 99.9% of people in this world would of quit the first time a fighter like Marcos Maidana hit them flush in the face. We forget that boxers are already a 100 times more courageous than any normal person simply because they are stepping in that ring.
Maybe you should think about that before you question someone mental toughness.Last edited by pistol whip; 01-15-2010, 11:51 PM.Comment

i will respectfully disagree with you on that statement. as since ortiz chose this profession, he is well aware of the inherent risks. so the other 99.9% of us out there do not even come into the equation. now my issue with ortiz is not so much the fact that he couldn't stand the heat, remember he made the statement prior to the fight that he was going to knock maidana out, but when faced with the prospect of being knocked out himself, he quit.I see so because he felt his body was in danger beyond what was expected of a boxer to take he's a wimp?

not only did he quit, he had the audacity to say afterwards, i am not SUPPOSED to get beaten up like that , as if he has some false sense of entitlement. that statement pissed me off more than his quitting. imo his attitude is what you get when you try to create stars, rather than have a fighter become a star. they are spoonfed, and have no idea of how to react when faced with adversity.
if he comes back and uses that experience to learn, more power to him, but no man should codone, much less make excuses for his actions that night. he must live with the consequences of his decision on that night. he needs to understand that every night will not be easy, and that champions are made on those nights when you are not at your best.Comment

He gave up in a moment of weakness and showed he had no heart.I think he would more than make up for it if he still continues and becomes a superstar regardless if he chose not to continue in "one" fight he had.

lets go by his own statements, he has no problems dishing out punishment, but he doesn't want to take any in return.
true champions fight through adversity, they dont quit. he was winning the fight, but not as easy as he felt he should have. you have to question his desire and his heart. until he proves different.Comment
