It seems as though Mr. Toney demonstrated the type of class that one might expect from such a seasoned sophisticate. He said, and I quote: "(Ruiz) is ******. But I take my hat off to him for giving me a shot." Perhaps the Heavyweight division got exactly what it needed to help improve its pathetic state: a first-rate degenerate as its spokesman. Ruiz should be ashamed of himself for loosing to a guy who looks like the type of person who takes your garbage from the curb. The heavyweights are a joke. It needs an Ali type star now more than ever to restore it back to some resemblance of a sport.
As unpleasant as that sounds it's nothing that surprises anyone who's been around boxing. Ali said some **** that would likely offend you too. He was no White Knight as he's fondly remembered these days. Ever read the **** he spouted off about Joe Frazier?
It don't matter whose leftovers VK knocks out in less than half the fight He still knocks them out and he'll knock your boy Toney out easily. I wish this fight happened tommorrow just to shut all you people up and I'm not really even a fan of VK!! I just know enough to know that Toney doesn't stand a chance. VK is STILL head and shoulders above the rest of the division, literally.
thats whats all you Toney haters said ruiz would do, but after the fight you are looking for another savior to get rid of toney, just face it, it's not going to happen, skill will overwhelm size and power. Just look at Ali/Foreman.
Toney maynot KO VK, but he will win the fight and thats all that matters. I like Brewster but Toney is much better then him, which says alot because Brewster is a champion, who also KO'd Wlad. Heart goeas a long way in boxing
Come on, man. Wlad got tired and fell out. Brewster tooka beating and Wlad got tired beating on him.
Toney is better than Brewster, but that's not good enough to beat Vitali.
Brewster does have a lot of heart and so does Toney, but it won't overcome Vitali.
From what I saw of the fight Toney was getting popped with the jab pretty good. Ruiz was able to keep him at a distance. If Vitaly ( who has is more technically sound than Ruiz )is able to keep Toney at that end of his jab then no way Toney wins. He would have to make it an inside fight and I dont think he has the speed to do that like a young tyson did to beat those taller guys. Even if he counters VK alot, I dont think he has the power to keep vitaly from doing what VK wants to do. He landed some pretty clean shots on Ruiz and Ruiz took them pretty well. It is boxing..so anything can happen though

I don't think Vitaly ever was head and shoulders above the others. He won, but who the **** did he beat? Old ass part-time boxing south african and Williams who beat washed up, hobbled ass Tyson.
Hardly the resume of someone who's head and shoulders above the rest of the division, figuratively.
If you are talking about the same boring, lazy, fat James Toney I watched on the weekend, then I must have been seeing things.
yes i am talking about that boring, fat lazy Wba Hw Champion of the world who has now won 4 titles in 4 different weight classes, how many fighters do know can say they have accomplished as much as that fat guy?

Who are you talking about? James Toney is an all time great. He won titles at middleweight, super middleweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight. He has almost 70 wins, ARE YOU CRAZY? Not only that but Toney's trash talk adds the heavyweight division.
Toney is good, but aside from his handspeed, he seems to be just another Lamon Brewster; he has power, chin, and decent defensive skills. Beating someone better than Ruiz will help his reputation big-time. The only people I've seen hyping Toney up have been on boxingscene. I've never heard anyone saying Toney is badass, would KO VK, etc. in the REAL WORLD.
What? The Boxing World has been buzzing about James since 2003 when he made his big comeback. No one talks about him the real world? Are you kidding me? He is on fox sports net like every week. It seems like no one on this site knows who James Toney is.
