Cotto most likely would win because Holt is not known for his granite chin but he would always have a punchers chance against Cotto and is still a dangerous fight for anyone at 140 today.
The headbutt staggered Torres. Any professional boxer can knock out an open chin against the ropes like that. Trust me man watch it over and over teh headbutt basically put him out.

But to answer your thread. Cotto is much much smarter than Torres. The fight would probably go 10 rounds or so but Holt would get the beating he deserved in the torres fight against Cotto

Cotto didn't have much of a problem with boxers and speed. Holt would've probably lost via KO although Cotto was a bit chinny towards the tail end of his jrWW career.

I think a guy like Bradley would've matched up much better against a jrWW Cotto.

Then shouldn't Holt have been just as hurt?

The ko came from a punch I have watched it dozens of times literally.....Holt was fortunate to have been positioned where he was at the time but the results is as is and Holt has a highlight reel ko over Torres.

Which is why I would only give Holt a punchers chance because Cotto had to have been drained trying to make 140.
