Cotto is not beating Foreman.

A fighter takes punishment during the fight period.
It's the psychological effect of losing that makes you damaged goods, not the physical effects.
Vazquez-Marquez trilogy was an absolute war with both of them taking heavy punishment, but no one says they're damaged goods.
That's because psychologically speaking they both knew that they did their best to win.
Hatton is far more psychologically damaged than Cotto.
Cotto is the type of guy that will just train harder for the next fight.
The Margarito fight was psychologically damaging, but I think Cotto feels better about it now that he knows Marg cheated.Last edited by ThePunchingBag; 01-14-2010, 04:52 PM.Comment

You're a cool dude homie, but your outlook on things comes off really left field sometimes. Yuri is not marketable whatsoever besides being undefeated and a champion at 154lbs. Replace Yuri with anyone else and MSG will still be a packed house. Replace Cotto, and you've really got nothing. Yuri Foreman has admittedly stated he never looks to KO any of his opponents and simply goes out and boxes. Not necessarily someone you're going replace your 2nd cash cow with, don't you think?Arum LOVES Foreman.....
He wouldn't give Cotto a chance to take the young champs belt if he didn't know Foreman could beat him.
Cotto off a devastating KO....needs a confidence builder type fight.
But Hes fighting a 5-11, 170 Pound slick guy with movement.
I got Foreman by DEC.Comment

A shot 60 year old Cotto version is better than any version of Hatton. But that is not the point. Cotto has taken 2 brutal beatings in the last 2 years, he's been cut in 5 of his last 7 fights, he is being sued by his uncle and for sexual harrasement by an ex co worker. He even lost his father, Cotto is a human being for god sakes. Is not fair to move the guy one divison up to face an undefeated fighter who is way bigger and extremly underated. Not IMO...
Cotto looked sharp down the stretch and just being able to go out on your feet is much healthier psychologically than what Hatton went through.
Hatton couldn't even think about boxing for a few months or he'd break down.
Cotto took a lot of physical punishment, but after the fight it was clear that he knew he was the lesser man that night, which to me represents a healthy frame of mind
Like Cotto said after the fight, "It's a fight, I'm supposed to look beat up."
He'll rebound a lot faster than Hatton will.
Cotto can and will probably win but this won't be a walk in park for this version of Cotto.Last edited by Banlistic; 01-14-2010, 04:59 PM.Comment

I just stated Arum is feeding him to his "baby". Go listen to a arum interview abut foreman..he acts like its his son or something.
This has nothing to do with how Cotto vs. Foreman looks in the ring.
Cotto gets outboxed....by the bigger, faster opponent.Comment

A prime Cotto beats Yuri to a pulp....but Cotto has taken alot of punishment.Comment

Foreman isn't a great boxer P4P, but Cotto will have a difficult time in beating Foreman on sheer size. Then again, he is a quality fighter and Clottey isn't a small guy #, but just not as big.Arum LOVES Foreman.....
He wouldn't give Cotto a chance to take the young champs belt if he didn't know Foreman could beat him.

I will bet on Cotto purely on the fact that he will be able to handle size, just not speed or power, and I personally think that if he gets a trainer he can listen to and they are good, he can do great.Comment
