He went in hiding for approximately 2 years?!?

    10+ pounds?

Winky wasn't the greatest win for hopkins, and winky obviously isn't a true 170 pound fighter, but it's a win for hopkins against a guy that nobody wanted to fight at the time.

A very close split decision loss.

The fact remains he fought him, an undefeated guy that throws millions of punches. Why did hopkins lose? Did he get his ass kicked? No. The fight came down to punch output, and the judges didn't like hopkins not throwing as many punches as calzaghe in the mid to late rounds. That's what the fight came down to. Anytime you have a guy who's 43 years old fighting a guy who's entire game is based on tremendous punch output, it's going to be difficult. And hopkins nearly pulled it off and even scored a knockdown. Again, how is that being a fraud?

Zero pounds. Calzaghe walked around at the time at 190+ pounds. He stated numerous times that 168 was nearly impossible for him to make anymore and revealed his plans to go to Light Heavyweight with or without hopkins. Calzaghe was indeed a legit and natural LH at the time and he further proved that by looking so good against Jones.

    Refer to Tarver.

The fact remained Pavlik was a 4-1 favorite over hopkins. People actually feared for hopkins health (lots of people predicting Hopkins would finally get KO'd and sent into retirement). Not too mention hopkins was 43 and Pavlik was 26.

Pavlik losing to hopkins obviously effected him mentally, which occurs often to undefeated fights.

    4 pounds.
Further, Pavlik and his trainer, both stated 160 was getting difficult to make and planned on moving up in weight class after hopkins. Obviously, him losing made them reconsider. But Pavlik is a big middleweight and he wont be at 160 much longer. Pavlik & hopkins were practically identical twins on fight night:

LOL, yeah a 6'3 former welterweight who is a freak of nature. I guarantee you if Pavlik never fought hopkins he would be favored over Williams.

Nah, just tells me you're hating on a man over 40 years of age who has accomplished more than most guys in the sport 10-15 years younger than him.
ofcourse it's relevant, lacy was overrated just like tarver was, calzaghe put on 7 lbs and won clearly, don't give me "close sd loss" like it means something. floyd vs oscar was a sd, do you really think oscar won? i hate that ****er floyd but he clearly won. again, wrong answer, pavlik put on 10 lbs.

what's the point when all you do is make up numbers? pavlik put on only 4 lbs because he once fought at a 166 lbs catch weight where he only managed to put on 164 lbs? how did you work that one out?

calzaghe put on 0 lbs because he walks around at 190? what kind of ******ed argument is that. walk around weight has nothing to do with fight night weight.

Yes the catchweight, 4-6 pounds, whatever the ****. Was it signficant? They are the same size. Are you telling me if the fight was at 164 Pavlik would have won? Don't answer that because we both know Hopkins would have mopped the floor with Pavlik at 166, 164, 160, 154, etc. Irrelevant point and you know it.

Nice to ignore the point he was struggling to make 168 and planned on moving to LH with or without hopkins and further was the same size as hopkins, not too mention looked perfectly fine against jones immediately after. You're telling me Hopkins had a size advantage over joe and should have won? You're crazy. Calzaghe was a natural light hevayweight he was draining himself to make 168. Hopkins was 43 and if we are to use your own ******ed ass logic hopkins was a blown up middleweight.

I guess Hopkins gave up the dream of being the new HW champ.

How so? He said immediately after his tune up fight his plan was to fight roy jones, win, and then move up to HW. He said he had a 3 fight gameplan then retirement. So apparently he's still on course...
