No, we still have very good fighters, and promising fighters for the future. A lot of good fights can also be made this year. The somewhat fatal blow would be Mayweather-Pacquiao not happening. But, I believe eventually everything will get worked out.

But we do need that super fight to happen. DLH-Mayweather was more like marketing when you stand back and think about it.

I don't think boxing is dying by any means.

But healthy competition from MMA is definitely pushing the movers & shakers in boxing to better their product.

Combat sports for so long has been monopolized by boxing, leaving fight fans without many options. The growing popularity of MMA opened the eyes of a lot of big wigs in boxing to the fact that if they were to continue feeding their paying customers garbage, that they would find their fix elsewhere.

In 2009, as boxing fans we finally started to see more quality cards stacked from top to bottom. This will only continue, and benefit us, the paying customer.

I agree, and boxing has so much depth in talent, that there is no reason this cannot happen.

I had a dream the other night

That this whole melt-down in the Pac/FMJ negotiations, was a ploy by Top Rank/Pac and GBP/FMJ to get everyone(hardcore fan, casual fan and regular peeps who usually dont watch boxing) to talk about the possible fight.....

Then come summer/fall, the contracts are signed and the fight happens.....

There would be more buyers/observers than had already been expected and more money to go around....

                Think its possible?

Judging by the people involved, it is more then possible.

According to some, perpetually since boxing began as a worldwide organized sport its always in danger of dying.

Its been around this long and been operating practically the same way for what 150 years?

Its not dying, not in danger of dying, it just as fine as always. As long as there are fighters willing to fight and ppl willing to pay to see fighters fight, there will always be boxing.

LOL Manny Pacquiao made boxing cool again to the public eye. He isn't a crybaby superstar, thats all mayweather. Pacquiao is fighting all top contenders. Just look at his next fight, it wont be easy and Clottey is nothing to take lightly.
